Job Description

As a result of an internal secondment we are looking for a Compliance Manager to lead and embed the Compliance function across Technology and Business Operations (Tamp;O), with particular focus on enhancing risk management, real time compliance and monitoring activities. You will support the business (first line) to provide assurance primarily to the various governance committees, on the effectiveness of the Technology and Operations control environment. You will also support the Technology and Operations teams to ensure the effective implementation, execution and monitoring of the wider National Lottery licence conditions by helping either putting in place or assessing the effectiveness of policies and processes.

How you'll make a difference

  • Lead and inspire the Technology amp; Operations - Compliance team to develop a high performing, high motivated and effective team.
  • Act as an influencer, to sustainably enhance the culture of compliance across Technology and Operations.
  • Create and embed mechanics across the business to enable a forward looking, risk anticipating, Compliance Function.
  • Provide continuous assurance that core / high risks processes and integrity risks are being adequately controlled and managed.
  • Work closely with the business to proactively mitigate and prevent risks identified from materialising. This role will also work closely with other teams outside of Tamp;O due to the nature of end to end processes which may cross multiple teams.
  • Work closely with third party suppliers and key relationship managers within the Tamp;O Team where required to proactively mitigate and prevent risks identified from materialising.
  • Participate and feed into the Central Second line and Third line of Defence’s risks universe to enable an aligned and integrated assurance approach.
  • Act as an early warning mechanism for potential risk exposures not being adequately managed or addressed.
  • Enhance effective risk management processes bringing best practices and current industry standards to the function, and to support department heads in developing and managing their approach to risk.
  • When requested, work closely with the regulator and provide them adequate visibility of Compliance activities and outcomes.
  • Develop a strong working understanding of Camelot’s procedures, policies and processes.
  • Embed, oversee and continually improve a flexible, risk based Technology/Operations Compliance Plan, to support Camelot’s fulfilment of the Operating Licence for the National Lottery.
  • Prepare Compliance reports and MI for senior management, management committees and for board committees including the Security Committee, Compliance amp; Risk Committee (CRC) and the Audit Risk amp; Security Committee as required, input into the Central Compliance Dashboard.
  • Ensure Compliance activities are supported by adequate documentation, peer reviews and quality checks.

What you'll bring to the table

  • Demonstrated experience of Internal Audit, Risk Management and Compliance leadership across large scale, highly-regulated, transaction processing, technology and digital/e-commerce environment.
  • Sets a compelling vision, clear priorities and performance standards.
  • Experience in successfully embedding ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) and assurance procedures in a complex business environment making risk management relevant and compelling to leadership teams.
  • High level of personal integrity and ability to maintain independence whilst also building strong and impactful relationships across Technology amp; Operations, Risk amp; Insurance, Central Compliance teams and various Governance Committees.
  • Proven experience of building new capabilities, and establishing new ways of working.
