ROLE OVERVIEW:
Green Man Gaming hosts an entirely in-house development team to constantly advance and improve our store. A QA Analyst is responsible for the planning and testing of new features and bug fixes. Our QA team is vital from the inception of a project right through to the delivery. As a member of the team, you will work closely with engineering and product teams, allowing your expertise and opinions to directly influence every aspect of the store that you work on. There will be many opportunities to work on and learn about exciting new technologies around the web.
The role will be remote, though we highly value social interaction, so there will be plenty of opportunities to meet and work with your colleagues in person.
Requirements
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working with Product and Engineering teams to fully understand new functionality being developed, and influence requirements to catch issues early.
- Participating in the full development lifecycle including; planning, exploratory testing, requirement testing, documentation, bug reporting, and critical problem solving.
- Work with QA colleagues to continually improve processes and the ways we work, to make your team’s job easier and more enjoyable.
YOU HAVE
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of how the web works. It is crucial to understand what goes on under the hood, so we know what we’re testing - you should be familiar with in-browser developer tools, and ideally know about browser cookies and caching.
- Familiarity with API testing - you should be familiar with different types of calls, JSON, and have some idea about different common status codes and what they mean.
- Debugging and problem solving - you should be experienced with finding the root cause of issues, and are able to generate concise steps to reproduce
- Effective written and verbal communication - given that we are all working remotely, it is vital that we are able to communicate well by any medium. We maintain our own internal documentation for tools and processes, which you will contribute to.
- Effective decision making and prioritisation - we expect QA to be experts in our application, and therefore are trusted to make decisions on how and when to fix issues.
Recommended Skills:
- Strong analytical and user-experience skills - quality encompasses everything from functionality to design to usability, so we would like to see that you can understand technical features while also being able to empathise with a user purchasing on the site.
- Any level of programming experience is useful to help contribute to debugging and understanding conversations.
- Proactivity in improving processes and highlighting useful QA tools.
- Strong self development skills, as tech shifts and we are expected to shift with it.
