Our client, a large government customer, is seeking a Network Engineer to join their team in Corsham. You will be working onsite 5 days/week.
Initial contracts will run for 11 months with a high possibility of extension. Rate offered will be discussed at application submission stage.
IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. This engagement has been assessed by the public body as Inside IR35 legislation. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement.

This role requires Active DV (Developed Vetting) clearance. Applicants require active DV clearance or the willingness to go through clearance before starting on site. Candidates with current clearance will be preferred.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide Level 4 network support for the live OpNET capability.
- Support network related elements for the OpNET technology components such as proxy functions, security functions, federation functions and protocol translation functions.
- Understand the designed hardware and software architecture elements of the capability.
- Work with the L3 / 4 Resolver Groups or independently to provide prioritised remediation plans to network integrity, availability and security assessments.
- Simulate issues for resolution in test environments to prove support issues and to demonstrate successful incident resolution.
- Understand / support the automation of the components of the design and indicate how they can be delivered by orchestration technology.
- Identify capability gaps in existing architectures and recommend changes or enhancements in line with Agile and continuous improvement methodology to support ongoing support.
- Make use of advanced communication skills to handle diverse, audiences who may be operating in hostile environments.
- Use strong critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems and propose new ideas.
- Engage with Front Line Command Level 3 and Defence Digital teams, providing OpNET guidance and support where required.
- Be responsible for support of network availability, health, security and oversee provisioning and support to OpNET Users and Enablers using existing automation and orchestration techniques.

- VRF (Virtual Route Forwarding)
- OSPF (Open Shortest Path First)
- Knowledge of NSX-T in VM
- Network virtualisation
- Network Policies
- Micro segmentation
- Knowledge of handling Crypto
- Level 3 service desk engineer
- Ability to work in a fast-paced time constrained environment
- Defence/Military background highly beneficial
- Services deploy into operational environments.
- Vital to understand priority incidents as they come in e.g.
- CISCO qualifications certified, and current.
- MS Office
- Aware of Latest technology.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of Mini-CATAPAN
- Knowledge of Remedy service desk (highly desirable)
Candidate Eligibility
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 General visas cannot be accepted. This role requires that candidates be willing to undergo BPSS (DS) Baseline Personnel Security Standard (with a Disclosure Scotland).
