About the team:Lansing Building Products’ Business Intelligence amp; Analytics group supports all the functional areas of the organization through the development of reports and dashboards, infrastructure, and tools that enable the analysis of information to optimize decision making.
About the role:As part of the Business Intelligence amp; Analytics group, the BI Analyst will be a key role in driving the evolution of Lansing Building Products’ data-driven culture. The role requires a person to have a blend of skills ranging from data sourcing and transformation, practical data modeling, data visualization and report writing, as well as providing deeper analysis when requested.
Role and Responsibilities-Assist in collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights. Perform basic data modeling and statistical analysis under the guidance of senior team members.-Support the development and maintenance of interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using BI tools such as Power BI, or similar platforms. Contribute to creating visually appealing and informative reports to communicate key findings.-Assist in ensuring data integrity and accuracy by conducting data validation, identifying data inconsistencies, and collaborating with team members to address any issues.-Help monitor and track key business performance metrics, highlighting areas for improvement and providing recommendations to optimize processes and drive business growth.-Work closely with cross-functional teams, including analysts, business stakeholders, and IT professionals, to understand data requirements and provide support in data analysis and reporting tasks.-Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in business intelligence and data analysis techniques. Take the initiative to expand your knowledge and skills through training and self-learning.
Education amp; Experience Requirements-Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting/Finance, Computer Science, or a related field. -3+ years of experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics with a proven track record of creating complex dashboards and ability to conduct analytics
Qualifications and Preferred SkillsAdvanced Excel knowledge with demonstrated expertise in complex functions, formulas, data analysis tools, and data manipulation techniques. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a passion for working with data.Familiarity with statistical concepts and techniques is a plus.Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey insights and findings to team members.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and willingness to learn from experienced professionals.Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment.
Qualification Statement: Advanced Excel KnowledgeAdvanced Formulas and Functions: Demonstrated expertise in using advanced formulas and functions in Excel, such as nested IF statements, INDEX/MATCH, VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, and array formulas. Ability to leverage these functions to perform complex calculations and data manipulations.Data Analysis Tools: Proficiency in utilizing Excel's data analysis tools, including PivotTables, Power Query, and Power Pivot. Macros and Automation: Familiarity with Excel macros and VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) programming to automate repetitive tasks, streamline data processes, and enhance productivity.Data Visualization: Experience in creating visually compelling charts, graphs, and reports to effectively communicate data-driven insights. Knowledge of advanced formatting options, conditional formatting, and charting techniques to present information in a clear and visually appealing manner.Data Cleaning and Transformation: Proficient in data cleaning techniques, such as removing duplicates, handling missing values, and transforming data formats.
