Janes is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join our expert-driven and human-machine teaming approach in delivering open-source intelligence solutions to our customers. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing complex data sets and providing insights to support strategic decision making. You will have the opportunity to work closely with Janes' management, software engineers, and customers in developing and implementing solutions that enhance the accuracy and completeness of our data model and intelligence environment. - Be part of the development scrum team and work closely with enterprise-level project stakeholders, SMEs, and product managers to understand business requirements and functional requirements.
- Responsible to deliver quality product specifications for new enterprise applications along with enhancements to the existing applications by working closely with product managers, technical leads, architects and QA team members.
- Understanding the customer requirements from the Product Manager and carrying out up-front research on a new project or product feature to identify requirements prior to build
- Work closely with product managers to define and breakdown EPIC, features, and user stories for the development team and to define the acceptance criteria and definition of DONE
- Confident in challenging the business requirements and differentiating them from implementation requirements with the intent to understand the real current as-is problem that is being solved
- Be a subject matter expert on the technical landscape in terms of systems, user workflows, data flows and implementation detail of product requirements
- Document technical and non-functional requirements as features and user stories while developing the requirements for the development teams
- Work closely with the QA team to define the test strategy for release and help QA Team define details test cases for the user stories
- Functional and technical analysis of high-level product design and capable of explaining and refining the requirements to feature level
- Good understanding of service oriented architecture and working knowledge of APIs
- Ability to effectively structure backlogs to define a product using epics and features aligning both business needs and technical architecture
- Have a passion for data and data analysis and data workflows for impact analysis, problem solving or any gap analysis
- Ability to participate and lead Stand-ups, Retrospectives, Showcases, Planning Sessions, Iteration Planning Sessions and Project Discovery Sessions, and Backlog Refinement Sessions
- Expert understanding of SCRUM methodology
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in business and data analysis and experience working with a wide variety of data and databases of relational and unstructured types.
- Experience working with building core data management platforms and supporting services (APIs) as an offering to internal/external customers.
- Experience working with multiple delivery teams and acting as an enabler to deliver the services required for expected business outcomes
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to translate strategic goals to technical requirements using various techniques like interviews, workshops
- Experience working in an agile cross-functional teams with epics , features and stories
- Knowledge of the defense, military, or intelligence industries is preferred.
