The Opportunity
DC Thomson’s magazine brands are undergoing a period of transformation, adopting new ways of working across a new department-wide structure. As part of this transformation, our famous magazine brands, The People’s Friend, My Weekly, This England and The Scots Magazine are looking for an outstanding Senior Digital Editor. Reporting into the Editorial Director and working closely with the Features team and Audience Development colleagues, the Senior Digital Editor will be responsible for all digital content across the magazine brands and the management of the digital editorial team.
Requirements
What You Will Be Doing As Senior Digital Editor:
- Producing digital content for DC Thomson’s Companionship brands (The People’s Friend, My Weekly, This England) and The Scots Magazine
- Management of digital team
- Strategic short- and long-term content planning in line with wider Companionship Community objectives and editorial initiatives
- Distributing content through audience channels as appropriate ie social media, SEO, newsletters
- Using data to inform strategy and tactics for growth
- Presenting accurate data to stakeholders
- Building strong cross-functional relationships
- Evangelising digital excellence
What we are looking for:
- A background in content with strong SEO and social media skills
- An understanding of audience tools and key editorial metrics
- An analytical approach to spotting patterns in data and problem solving
- Enjoys adapting and learning new information and technical skills
- Strategic thinker
- A creative mind with an eye for a good feature idea tailored to specific audiences

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 35 hours per week from our Dundee or Glasgow office. The role presents the opportunity of hybrid working that includes regular office attendance and remote working will also be considered.
