General Manager
Location: Manchester

The General Manager in Manchester will provide overall management responsibility across our Trafford Park Depot and our West Manchester and Irlam Transfer Stations. Direct reports will consist of a Depot Manager, Transfer Station Manager, along with the Traffic team and day to day, it will be key to be a strong role model while coaching and mentoring the local management team to support them in achieving their local business plans.
Providing leadership and creating a culture of continuous improvement across the operation is vital to drive best practice, ensure Pamp;L and business plans are achieved and ensure that all matters of compliance are adhered to including Hamp;S, Environmental, O Licence and Company Policy.
It is an exciting time for the team in Manchester and for the General Manager, it will be key to identify and progress business opportunities, to deliver business growth and/or efficiencies across the operation, create a culture of continuous improvement and to drive high performance.
Here’s what we require.
- Extensive experience as a Depot Manager or Transfer Station Manager or position of similar responsibility in Services or Logistics industry.
- Multisite management experience desirable.
- Management Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is essential.
- Excellent experience in people management is key and in a labour intensive, multishift and Trade Union environment would be desirable.
- Experience of health and safety management and knowledge of existing and impending environmental and Hamp;S legislation.
- Strong track record of delivering continuous improvement within an operational/service environment.
- Geographical knowledge would be ideal and experience with route planning software such as Routh Monkey, DPS (LogiX) would be advantageous.
