Job Description

About us

Mable Therapy is a thriving startup that provides online children’s counselling and speech and language therapy, using our innovative video platform. We're a young, innovative company that's passionate about giving children and young people the help they need, as soon as they need it.

We're undergoing a period of rapid growth, having recently received over 3m in venture capital funding, and we're now looking for talented people to join our team. The team will help us to expand our offering, enabling us to deliver therapy to more children throughout the UK. Our expansion plans include developing our own unique AI tools for detecting speech amp; language issues, creating an app that can support children in-between their live 1:1 online therapy sessions and innovating further on our live 1:1 therapy environment.

If you’re passionate about making children's mental health and therapy services more creative, fun and accessible, then we need you on our team!

The job

The successful candidate will:

  • Design, build, test, and maintain various components of our online platform and future applications, focusing on both frontend and backend development.
  • Work closely with our clinical and marketing teams to ensure that the application features and functionality meet clinical requirements and align with our business objectives.
  • Participate in the design and development of an innovative AI-driven application.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders within an Agile development environment.
  • The role will be hybrid with 3 days per week in our central Leeds office. As a rapidly growing startup working on complex greenfield projects we need developers and clinicians in the same space to collaborate, problem solve and demonstrate progress to each other as we move forward.
  • We are looking for developers comfortable with Javascript as a base but there are some cases where as a team we may decide on using another language when appropriate, as long as you are a keen learner you'll do great!

Requirements

Essential:

  • Demonstrated experience as a full-stack Javascript developer.
  • Proficiency in Javascript, Typescript, HTML, CSS.
  • Experience with Vue.js (or other modern frameworks such as React or Angular).
  • Competent skills in UI/UX design.
  • Strong understanding of backend technologies, including NodeJs, AWS, SQL.
  • Hands-on experience with testing frameworks like Jest and Cypress.
  • Familiarity with collaborative coding practices and version control tools such as GitHub, GitLabs and BitBucket.
  • Aware of Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to interact effectively with various teams.
  • Passionate about developing solutions that make a positive impact on children's lives.
  • Leeds-based, or willing to commute to Leeds at least 3 days a week.

Desirable:

  • Experience with cross-platform frameworks such as Ionic, Flutter or React Native.
  • An understanding of WebRTC technologies.
  • An interest, or experience working with AI technologies.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines.

Attributes:

  • Highly organised: but happy to be flexible and make changes at the last minute if required.
  • Hard working: we're going through a period of rapid growth and need people dedicated to supporting our vision.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills: as a growing company we're overcoming new and interesting challenges on a daily basis.
  • A desire to learn and develop: there's lots of opportunity for career progression as the company grows.
  • Adaptable: as a small start-up, all team members carry out varied and interesting tasks that may not have been in their skillset before.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team: we're a young, sociable group and are looking for people with a good sense of humour and a positive attitude.
