Reporting to our Central Operations Manager and working closely with the logistics team, we have a new opportunity for a Transport Planner to join our Civils amp; Drainage Logistics team. The position offers hybrid working between our site in Mells (BA11 3PD) and home working.
As our newest team member, you will be responsible for effective traffic planning across different geographical regions. You will focus on customer service and vehicle utilisation and be required to work proactively with other members of the logistics function, both internal and external, to support the achievement of key business objectives.
Previous traffic planning experience would be advantageous. This position will help Marshalls continue to lead the sector in logistics capability, remain compliant with statutory and industry accreditations and keep us at the forefront of providing world-class customer service.
The mission:
- Utilise vehicles' total carrying capacity
- Build relationships across the business to optimise deliveries across the country
- Put the customer first, ensuring product delivery and meeting and exceeding their expectations
- Optimise costs by fully utilising Marshalls' vehicles before subcontracting any work
- Ensure excellent communication lines across the business, including to other planners, sales, site dispatch, subcontractors, and management
- Ensure, wherever possible, to reduce cost by backloading Marshall's vehicles at every opportunity
- Ensure the achievement of departmental KPIs
- Always operate with a Health amp; Safety mindset
The mission-critical skills:
- Have recent Logistics, Transport and/or Fleet Management experience
- Have a Customer Service mindset
- Energetic and resilient self-starter that can work on their own initiative with high levels of personal motivation
- Be able to quickly establish credibility with a wide range of people, both internal and external
- Be able to demonstrate strong planning and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise and multi-task
- Have excellent interpersonal, communication and decision-making skills
- Be a strong team player
- Have a mastery of major software packages, including Excel, Word and potentially ERP amp; Traffic planning systems
- Have strong problem-solving, analysis, numerical amp; IT skills
- Be results-driven and highly commercially aware
- Be a logical thinker with good attention to detail and a high level of commitment
- Be willing to learn continuously, takes calculated risks and learn from failures
