• Oversee and provide leadership to the SEN department
• Identify, assess and provide appropriate support for students with special educational needs
• Implement and monitor effective processes for SEN monitoring and review
• Develop and maintain effective communication systems with teachers, students and parents, ensuring a positive approach to SEN support
• Work closely with school leaders to ensure that resources and support are effectively allocated to meet the needs of students with SEN
• Ensure that all SEN practices follow the relevant government legislation and guidance
• Keep up-to-date with current research and best practices related to SEN teaching and learning

Requirements

• Qualified teacher status
• Relevant SENCo qualifications/experience
• A proven track record of working with students with special educational needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• An ability to inspire and motivate students and colleagues
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
