Role Overview:

Reporting to the Facilities Management Team, the Caretaker/Cleaner will be based at Dunnington Primary School and will have overall responsibility for maintenance and porterage. They will ensure that all services are provided to a consistently high standard and assist the Facilities Management team in all areas required to meet the needs of both the business and the client.

In addition, the Caretaker/Cleaner is responsible for carrying out general cleaning duties on site and supporting the wider team to ensure that all areas are cleaned to the highest of standards possible, including the flexibility for working overtime during holiday and sickness periods.


Hours:

  • Caretaker, 7.00am-9.00am, Monday-Friday, 10 hours per week, 11.23 per hour
  • Cleaner, 3.30pm-6.30pm, Monday-Friday, 15 hours per week, 10.73 per hour
  • Total of 25 hours per week


Key responsibilities

  • Planned and reactive maintenance as required including utility monitoring
  • General maintenance and repairs to building fabric and associated equipment as necessary
  • Identification and reporting/repairing of defects and maintenance requirements
  • Porterage and caretaking tasks; including accepting deliveries, litter picking, weeding, removal of rubbish and the setting out of furniture to agreed timescales and standards
  • Supervision and induction of Subcontractors; including checking risk assessments amp; method statements prior to work commencement
  • Health amp; Safety duties; ensuring that the building is operated in a safe and legally compliant manner at all times
  • Client liaison; including communication with the Head Teacher / nominated deputy
  • Health, Safety and Environmental watchdog
  • Be a main key holder to the Site
  • Ensure safe pedestrian access especially during adverse weather conditions
  • Cleaning duties on site to include vacuuming carpets, mopping floors, wiping and cleaning surfaces, skirtings, chairs and tables, cleaning of classrooms, staff rooms, kitchen areas, toilet areas and hallways
  • Liaise with Cleaning Supervisor with regards to low stock and order requirements
  • On occasion you may be asked to operate cleaning machinery such as floor/carpet cleaners, of which full training would be given

Essential:

  • A satisfactory Enhanced DBS (criminal background) check
  • Good practical core skills together with previous maintenance experience
