Job Description

Our product is all about collaboration and innovation. So are our people. We’re a small team, but we’ve got a big vision: to build a brand-new infrastructure for operational risk management. It’s not easy. We’re redefining the way some of the world’s biggest financial services companies and banks work with data. There are a lot of challenges but a lot of opportunities to think and act creatively, too.

Backed by banks (JP Morgan, Citi, Barclays, Lloyds, BNP) and ratings agencies, Acin helps banks objectively manage their risk control landscape. Based on a network of peers, Acin’s data protocols connect a bank’s risk control data across their firm and industry leading to greater cost savings, and creating huge efficiency savings across the bank both in front and back-office operations.

This is a hybrid role, with 2 days per month in our London office.

The role:

As a Lead Back End you'll be building and maintaining robust GraphQL APIs and providing clients with multiple data-rich views into operational risk management.

Duties:

  • Build and maintain robust GraphQL APIs and provide clients with multiple data-rich views into operational risk management.
  • You will be leading the discussions regarding technical architecture.
  • You will manager the back end engineering team and develop the team in line with business needs.
  • Decide between extending existing functionality or breaking things out into more re-usable patterns, whilst being mindful about consistency, reusability, and looking for ways to make developers lives easier.
  • You will be involved in the full Agile lifecycle including feasibility of features, discussing how to implement them, and providing constructive feedback in our regular retrospectives.
  • Ensure good automated testing coverage for all code written by engineers on your team.
  • Own and set engineering best practice.
  • Continuously seek out opportunities to innovate, and foster a spirit of innovation in your team.

Requirements

  • Experience building applications using TypeScript, Node and GraphQL.
  • Ideally some experience with line management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical architecture and ability to contribute to discussions on overall direction of development.
  • Experience working with complex data structures and SQL databases.
  • Experience writing effective unit tests. You understand the value of unit tests and how they contribute to a robust and reliable codebase.
