Do you have a wealth of Defined Benefit knowledge which you would like to share?

We are looking for a talented Qualified Actuary to join the Technical Services Team within our newly refurbished Hove Offices.

You will be providing strong technical actuarial support to our Annuities Book (both in-payment and deferred quotes) which supports and underpin both BAU releases and programme deliveries.

Whilst this role has been advertised as a Full-Time position, we would also actively encourage applications from Part Time workers.

Do you feel like you meet the requirements but require greater flexibility? We’d love to hear from you regardless; we’re open to flexible working arrangements and support hybrid working, so please get in touch!

What you'll be doing

  • Directing the planning, design and delivery of all actuarial amp; calculation changes for ALPS and associated EUCs.
  • Seeking creative and innovative ways to deliver continuous improvement using LEAN methodologies, whilst maintaining quality, controls and customer outcomes.
  • Mapping existing processes to identify improvements and presenting alternatives while supporting these recommendations into the business
  • Maintaining and developing appropriate test packs to ensure good code coverage.
  • Supporting the Senior Systems Actuary in all activities relating to the ongoing support of the pricing model including updates, development, documentation and testing.
  • Support the Pensioner and Deferred Pension Loading teams in all activity including migration and new scheme loading to ensure benefit structures operate accurately and effectively leading to correct calculations, member communications and valuations data.

What we're looking for

  • A qualified Life/Pensions Actuary (or qualified through similar experience)
  • Strong experience in technical actuarial roles and/or system development.
  • In depth understanding of defined benefit pension schemes.
  • Programming experience is preferred. Ideally with proficiency in C#, however other coding languages such as C++, R, Python etc. could be considered.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and financial skills
  • Strong organisational and change management skills with the attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise and work independently, managing a high-volume of tasks and deadlines.
