We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated laboratory technician to join our In Vitro Biology team. You will contribute to our technology-enabled drug discovery programmes by supporting core activities within a dynamic team of drug discovery scientists.
This is a 12-month fixed term contract postion
Responsibilities
- Organise and maintain laboratory stocks and reagents
- Receive deliveries and update inventories
- Compound management (ordering and dissolving compounds, generation of assay ready plates)
- Laboratory waste management (Cat1 and Cat2)
- Monitor and keep communal areas clean and tidy
- Oversee and manage cleaning rotas for laboratory and tissue culture
- Oversee maintenance of general laboratory equipment
- Carry out all scientific support activities in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines
- Generate and follow detailed SOPs
- Health and Safety checks
- Portable appliance testing
We are looking for:
- BSc in a science related subject is desirable but not essential
- Previous experience in a laboratory or drug discovery environment preferred
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality standards
- Positive mindset to problem solving with the ability to work to deadlines
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to multitask
- Self motivated and can work independently as well as part of a group
- Ability to work across departments
Nice to haves:
- Experience with automation desired
- Experience with inventories and database management preferred
- Computer literacy and proficient user of Excel
