Role - Maritime Safety Engineer (Submarines and Submarine Facilities)
Salary: 47,000 - 57,000 depending on experience
Office locations: Glasgow, Plymouth, Bristol or Warrington office will be considered.

Role Responsibilities
Frazer-Nash offers excellent opportunities for individuals with a background in submarine systems engineering, submarine facility engineering, safety case development or safety management.
Below are a few examples of projects that we have been working on recently:
β’ Providing MoD with safety management expertise to support the future attack submarine programme SSN-AUKUS.
β’ Providing a range of safety and environmental services to the Dreadnought safety campaign, including provision of SME advice, helping mature whole boat safety management arrangements, responding to emerging drivers and providing Independent Technical Assessment of whole boat safety case documentation.
β’ Preparing Whole Ship Safety Case documentation for Astute and Vanguard Class submarines
β’ For the Naval Reactor Plant (NRP), providing SQEP knowledge to Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) 2 and 3 projects.
β’ Supporting the production of nuclear safety design justifications for current submarine classes substantiating where ships systems support NRP functions.
β’ Conducting and supporting studies to inform Submarine Plant Lifetime and Commission extensions.
β’ Authoring and presenting Safety Case documentation to support submarine facilities.
β’ Supporting submarine facility improvement projects.
β’ In the Civil Nuclear Sector, the Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are being developed as we move away from dependency on fossil fuels, SMRs are similar to our NRPs and therefore there will be opportunities to support in these areas.
Requirements
Essential
β’ Submarine CAT A Supervisor or CAT B qualified watchkeeper.
β’ Enthusiastic, a team player with a βcan doβ approach to difficult challenges.
Desirable
β’ Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to influence effectively.
β’ Knowledge and understanding of submarine safety and risk assessment.
β’ Working knowledge of the submarine ship systems, Nuclear Steam Raising Plant and/or propulsion systems.
β’ Working knowledge of the submarine facility and associated facility systems and their associated safety cases.
β’ Understanding of the Regulatory interface and associated documentation e.g. DSA 02-DMR, DSA 03-DMR, NSMAs.
β’ Familiarity with Technical Assurance/Governance and Maturity Assessment of the Maritime CADMID cycle.
β’ Understanding of safety analysis techniques, including HAZID, hazard management, functional hazard assessment, Cat and Class, Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessment, software safety assessment, ALARP assessment.
β’ Experience of working within the SDA (ISM, NPPT, Equipment PT etc).
β’ Incorporated Engineer working towards Chartership or Chartered Engineer status
