About you

You’ll be joining the Developer Experience team in our DevEx hive as a Senior Platform Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll be a part of a fast-growing business that is challenging the market and doing things differently.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll lead on larger initiatives, building platform features and engaging with teams on how to achieve the best outcomes. With the rest of the DevEx team, you’ll be responsible for the design and delivery of new tooling and features to our customers (internal development teams) as well as maintaining our existing platform to a high standard. You’ll excel at working with teams to understand their challenges, and delivering effective solutions, getting feedback, and continuously improving our development platform offering. You will have outstanding communication and leadership skills, able to engage in the full lifecycle with a product mindset. You’ll also enjoy ownership and accountability; experience of working in an environment where you’ve been responsible for your code all the way through to operating in production is a big plus.

Requirements

You will be

  • Leading on cross cutting initiatives to improve developer experience at ClearBank
  • Building and maintaining a set of platform tools our development community use every day, and that are critical to our success in delivering core banking software to ClearBank’s customers.
  • Collaborating with teams around the bank to understand challenges and deliver effective improvements to the Developer Experience.
  • Working with an expansive array of tech day-to-day, using Azure, Azure DevOps, Backstage, Elastic, Kubernetes and more.
  • Experimenting with different tools and processes to support continual internal innovation.
  • Bringing new ideas and approaches to our Developers’ Experience.
  • Supporting services from Development to Production via our team On-Call rota.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers

What we are looking for

  • Experience consulting with teams or customers, leading change
  • A background in DevOps or Platform Engineering
  • Great knowledge of software engineering amp; the associated practices
  • Experience of delivering software in cloud technologies Azure and AWS
  • Solid experience with C# and Automated Testing
  • Experience with Azure Pipelines, Azure Cloud and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
  • Containers (Docker) and Kubernetes
  • Operating observability tools (e.g. Elastic, Dynatrace, Azure App Insights)


It would be desirable if you have experience of the following.

  • NodeJS, ReactJS, Typescript
  • AKS
  • GitOps and pull-based tooling
  • Open Telemetry
