Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated laboratory technician to join our In Vitro Biology team at our Cambridge site. Working within a dynamic team of drug discovery scientists, you will contribute to our technology-enabled drug discovery programmes by supporting core activities such as compound management to drive identification of small molecule inhibitors for our drug discovery programmes.


Responsibilities
  • Compound management (ordering and dissolving compounds, generation of assay ready plates) both manually and using liquid handling robots.
  • Coordination of internal and external compound inventories
  • Oversee maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Organise and maintain laboratory stocks and reagents
  • Receive deliveries and update inventories
  • Laboratory waste management
  • Carry out all scientific support activities in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines
  • Registration of compounds into in-house databases.
  • Generate and follow detailed SOPs
  • Health and Safety checks
  • Portable Appliance Testing
  • Provide cover for other laboratory technicians within the company


We are looking for:
  • BSc in a science related subject is desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience in a laboratory or drug discovery environment preferred
  • Experience with reagent or compound inventories and database management eg Dotmatics.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality standards
  • Positive mindset to problem solving with the ability to work to deadlines
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Self motivated and can work independently as well as part of a group
  • Ability to work across departments


Nice to haves:

  • Previous experience of use and programming of laboratory automation and liquid handling robots
  • Experience using and troubleshooting KNIME workflows
  • Experience working with Contract Research Organizations
