Epraise
Epraise is a highly regarded ed-tech platform, that aims to motivate students, engage parents, and save teacher's time. We have a long history of transforming the way schools recognise and reward student effort and engagement. We are enormously proud of the work we do to support hundreds of schools in over 20 countries all around the world.
Epraise is part of a company called Veracross, which offer a wide range of outstanding technologies for schools, including a management information system, a learning management system and more.
The Role
Following the continued success of our platform, we are looking to appoint a senior PHP developer who be responsible for building and maintaining our game-changing technologies for schools.
The Epraise platform has a wide range of functionality that supports points, digital badges, rewards, sanctions, supports, communications and more. We have a web app and an API that supports our mobile applications built in Swift and Java/Kotlin. This role’s focus will be primarily on the web app, though there may be mobile application development opportunities that arise.
This is very much a full-stack role, so you will be expected to not only write excellent back-end code, but also be able to create outstanding user interfaces with support from the wider team.
This role is suited to someone with a minimum of 5 years of experience in PHP development. You may already be a senior developer or be looking to take the next step. You will need to have up-to-date knowledge and experience of all the latest changes within the language, and be able to demonstrate clean, efficient and readable code.
The most important thing to us, is personality. We are looking for someone with a can-do approach who is both enthusiastic and ambitious. We want someone who is excited to try out new ideas and techniques to help us drive our platform forward and is not afraid to voice their opinion. You will be a key part of our business and your thoughts and suggestions really will count.
The Technology Stack
Epraise operates on an open-source technology stack, including Linux, Apache, MySQL, Redis and PHP. We work with a number of 3rd parties via APIs including Microsoft, Google and Apple. We both read and write from school's management information systems both directly and via a 3rd party called Wonde.
Epraise is based on an internal MVC framework that prioritises efficiency and security. We have recently updated our code to support the latest PHP8.x releases and are always looking to improve the way we build things.
Epraise uses Docker for local development and are currently in the process of migrating our infrastructure from Rackspace to AWS, making use of some of the latest technologies that transition offers such as ECS. As of this summer, we are also now using Terraform to manage our infrastructure.
