Canvas8 is looking for an organised and detail-obsessed senior sub-editor to lead a team, develop workflows and ensure that our high editorial standards are maintained.

We are Canvas8, a strategic insights practice operating out of London, New York, Los Angeles, and Singapore. We help our clients understand people so they can make better business decisions. Our work investigates the hidden insights in everyday life from the psychology of boredom to football fandom to why Barbiecore is a Gen Y thing and makes them meaningful for brands. About the role
Working with our global team of analysts and writers, you'll be the final eyes on all our content, including trend reports, newsletters, and website copy. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that the daily content for the Canvas8 Library a platform of over 35,000 articles is produced and published on time and to the highest standard. What all our content outputs have in common is that they tell compelling cultural and behavioural stories for clients including Nike, Google, LEGO, and Ogilvy.
Working as part of the Membership team, you’ll be responsible for overseeing our complex Library publishing and comms pipeline and overseeing the resourcing needs of our subbing team. You’ll work closely with our team of editors and analysts to ensure that all of our outputs whether a snappy website pop-up or 10,000-word research reports are error-free and in line with the Canvas8 tone of voice.
As a senior sub-editor, you’ll get the opportunity to flex your analytical muscles by taking part in insights meetings for our biggest content pieces. You’ll collaborate with teams across the business to grow your audience understanding to be able to make the most informed and strategic editing decisions. You’ll also be leading workshops and supporting the upskilling of editorial best practices across the business. You’ll become a Canvas8 CMS-aficionado, working with the dev team to ensure the Canvas8 platform is delivering insights to readers in the most effective and intuitive ways possible.
Alongside overseeing membership and analyst research output, you’ll also line-manage a sub-editor and nurture a freelance subbing team.
About you
Confident in acting as the final gatekeeper on all content before publication, you’re a font of knowledge on how TOV and style guides should progress to reflect cultural issues and developments. You’re on top of AI developments too how tools may be used to complement your skillset and improve efficiencies.
You’ll be naturally interested in the world around you the role will be an extension of your everyday media consumption as you proofread, fact-check, and discuss new and useful insights.

As the TOV guardian, you will ensure that style, tone, and format are consistent across all our content, setting the standard for exceptional editorial output across the whole business.
You’re comfortable with numbers as well as words
Confident in making sense of facts and figures, know the difference between a percentage and a percentile, capable of reading charts and graphs, and have a knack for spotting a dodgy statistic.

Super-organised and deadline driven, you thrive in a fast-paced environment. Perhaps you’ll come from a newsroom but are bored of the endless churn and instead want to unpick the ‘why’ behind the headline. Overseeing the day-to-day production of the Canvas8 Library content, you’ll have experience using varied pipelines and CMS and bring best-in-practice workflows and systems to the role.
You’re analytical and curious
Reviewing content for grammar, spelling, and punctuation is your bread and butter, but you excel in making complex ideas easy to understand and making weak points stronger.
