Senior UI Artist

d3t and Coconut Lizard are at the cutting edge of technology and creativity, delivering co-development video game services to our global triple-A clients. Our successful studios are continuing to grow and we are looking for a Senior UI Artist to join the expanding Art Team. Our studios, part of the Keywords Studios Group, work on multiple exciting projects at any one time offering plenty of variety and involvement.

We have been established over 13 years and our studio projects have included Hogwart’s Legacy, Vampire: The Masquerade - Blood Hunt, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Alan Wake Remastered, Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Assetto Corsa Competizione.

Our studios are based near Runcorn, Cheshire and Gateshead, Tyne and Wear where we offer an amazingly professional, fun and supportive working environment. The Role Senior UI Artist

The Senior UI Artist is a key part of our growing UI Team at the studio. Having an excellent eye for detail, we are looking for someone who can create world class User Interface graphics that support and enhance the gameplay experience. We work with very high-profile clients on amazing game titles and the quality of our UI artwork is critical to satisfying and retaining their loyalty.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design, create and implement amazing high-quality UI Art.
  • Assist with concepting new ideas, exploring new techniques, and refining the UI to enhance the player experience.
  • Help to develop and maintain a consistent visual style and design language for UI elements, in line with the overall art direction of the game.
  • Collaborate with the UI Lead in helping to define clear visual goals, create best practice artwork and help to oversee the UI team quality through all stages of development.
  • Able, when required, to take ownership of specific features of the game or to manage outsource artwork, including all communication, feedback and implementation.
  • Ensure work meets all technical constraints, have an awareness of memory usage, optimisation, and the impact of artwork on frame rate.
  • Attend regular reviews of artwork and assist in both providing and implementing feedback.
  • With a professional and organised approach, you adhere to schedules and promptly feedback concerns regarding any aspects of the project. Ensuring the right tasks are tackled in the right order, updating Jira, communicating progress, and help manage team deliverables.
  • Stay up to date with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and design trends to continuously improve the quality and innovation of the UI.
  • Motivate and inspire colleagues, share knowledge with the overall art team and help promote a culture of collaborative innovation.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • A passion for graphic design, iconography, typography and an appreciation of the importance of the UI flow and functionality.
  • The ability to adapt to different visual styles.
  • A deep understanding of UX principles and an appreciation of the importance of UI flow and functionality.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, etc.) as well as prototyping tools such as Figma and XD.
  • Good understanding of various other tools and processes used in game development, including current game editors such as Unreal.
  • Experience with motion design and UI animation, creating engaging transitions, animations, and dynamic elements to enhance interactivity and provide visual feedback.
  • Self-driven, autonomous and confident, demonstrate responsibility for work quality and processes for both yourself and other members of the UI team, actively contributing fresh ideas and encouraging the team.
  • Ability to deliver quality work within fixed time constraints.
  • Strong communication and organisation skills and confident working as part of a multidisciplinary art team.
  • Be a collaborative team player, have a professional, flexible and calm approach with the ability to adapt with change.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience of working within game development for at least 3 years.
  • At least 3 published titles.
  • At least one full project cycle in an Intermediate Art position.
