THE ROLE

We are looking for an Associate Technical Director who will define the scope and oversee architectural and engineering decisions in the development of VR games within a fast-paced, expanding studio. You would be leading engineering effort in problem-solving of technical issues across multiple projects whilst coordinating with other company studios and core technology teams to help direct their efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilising extensive knowledge of games development to define the scope and oversee architectural and engineering decisions in the development of VR games on Unreal Engine.
  • Coordinate with studio production on how best to support delivery of short and long term goals.
  • Contribute to mid and long term technical strategy for the studio.
  • Mentor engineers across the studio to enable them to do their best work.
  • Liaise with other disciplines, internal and external partners, and core technology teams across multiple projects to help direct their efforts.
  • Participating in the definition, scope and implementation of tools that improve development workflows.
  • Offer experienced insight into technical problems, including profiling and optimisation of code and software systems.


Requirements

WHO Are We Looking For?

Essential capabilities

  • Proven skills in games development as a senior principal engineer or equivalent in a medium to large studio.
  • Extensive knowledge of delivering games on Unreal Engine.
  • C++ programming.
  • Can be flexible when necessary to fulfil the needs of the studio.
  • Is highly skilled in verbal and written communication.
  • Are able to listen to feedback and respond accordingly.
  • Has a great positive attitude and is confident in motivating and empowering developers.
  • Able to work in a team, and also individually on studio matters.
  • Keeps up-to-date on industry news, trends, and techniques.
  • Has a desire to research, learn an improve their own knowledge, and pass that knowledge onto other.

Desired experience

  • Experience in the development of VR games
  • Experience in delivering multi-platform titles for mobile, PC and consoles
  • Experience with C# and Python.
  • Some proficiency with Perforce administration, build systems and development tools.
  • Experience of working with Core Technology teams.
