Group Accountant (up to 40,000)

About the role

Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, the Group Accountant will have responsibilities including revenue recognition, treasury, cash forecasting and balance sheet control. The Group Accountant will also take on a key role in the Group’s year end processes and assist the Group’s external auditors.

The role will sit within the Group Finance team whose responsibilities also include financial reporting, consolidation of the Group’s results and ad hoc project work. The Group Finance team sits alongside the management accounts teams in London.

The right candidate for this role will be self-motivated and organised. They will take ownership of the broad range of tasks within their remit and quickly develop an in-depth understanding of the business of Immediate Media. The Group finance team has a range of responsibilities and the person in this role will work to help the team as a whole to meet its goals, taking on extra responsibilities if ad hoc work arises or to help other team members during busy periods.

As a Group Accountant, you will:

  • Assist with treasury and cash management including weekly cash reporting and monthly forecasting
  • Assist with the circulation and subscription revenue postings at month end including associated costs and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with posting of direct costs at month end including monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintenance of the fixed asset registers and the monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with the swift resolution of audit queries across a wide range of the Group’s profit and loss and balance sheet accounts
  • Ad hoc analysis, project and other work for the Group Finance Manager and Group Financial Controller as required

Requirements

  • ACA/ACCA in progress
  • Experience gained in a medium sized commercial organisation would be useful
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to plan and manage own workload in order to meet tight deadlines
  • A genuine interest in the Publishing amp; Digital Media sector
  • Strong Excel and IT skills essential
  • Proactive and self-motivated with excellent communication skills
  • Confident and flexible team player
  • A finisher with the genuine drive and commitment to produce the highest quality work and to deliver technical expertise at all times
