Job Description

Tabeo is building the Shopify for primary care. A vertical SaaS platform that simplifies payments and administrative tasks for local providers including dentists, opticians and vets. Payments refers to cards, subscriptions and finance. Providers benefit from a quicker, easier access to relevant payment options in one unified check out flow. Administrative tasks refer to payroll, time kiosk and marketing support.

Today, over 10,000 dentists across the UK use Tabeo. 100 more join our platform every month. We are the dominant market leader for patient finance and aim to be the same for cards in 12-18 months. Data from cards will allow us to cross-sell new products into existing users.

The business will break even or will become profitable by November and we plan to grow revenues to 10m ARR next year. Tabeo is growing its team from 45 to 50 in the next 6 months. We believe in a remote-first approach to work and equip teams with all perks and tools so they can thrive. We all come together 3x per year for Team Weeks. Last year, we met in Dubai, Lisbon and London. Next, it is Budapest and Reykjavik.

About the role

We are searching for an experienced and enthusiastic technical lead ideally with expertise in Go, though it's not mandatory. Your role will involve supporting the development of a culture of engineering excellence, guided by a DevOps mindset of 'you build it, you run it.' You will drive these improvements by coaching and mentoring other engineers in your team, while also advancing your own personal development.

Currently, we are in the process of re-platforming from a containerised platform on Google Cloud and building a new greenfield platform using serverless and event-driven microservices architecture on AWS. You will play a key role in helping to lead the team in designing and delivering this new platform using a Serverless approach.

You will have a strong commitment to collaboration, customer empathy, and maintaining a positive and pragmatic attitude will be crucial, as you will collaborate with a small, friendly team of engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Writing scalable, robust, testable, efficient, and easily maintainable code
  • Translating software requirements into stable, working, high-performance software
  • Contributing to the evolution of best practice adoption and engineering excellence
  • You are confident in working with distributed architectures and cloud technologies
  • You embrace the `build it, run it` philosophy and support applications in production
  • You have strong experience with modern software development practices such as TDD, CI/CD, and a DevSecOps mindset
  • You possess a proactive inclination and excel in establishing trust and communication with colleagues and stakeholders
  • You are a self-motivated individual with a pragmatic approach, capable of identifying and focusing on high-priority tasks. Additionally, you have the interpersonal skills to make informed decisions in situations that may lack clarity
  • At this early stage, where each moment is an opportunity for innovation and improvement, everyone will be wearing several hats and enjoying full autonomy

Requirements

  • A strong foundation in software engineering principles with the ability to deliver high-quality code.
  • Experience with re-platforming and being able to support architectural decisions and their trade-offs
  • A solid understanding of Go, but we are open to engineers from different programming backgrounds
  • Experience in microservices, distributed architecture, containerisation, and serverless technologies in AWS e.g AWS API GW, Lambda, EventBridge, DynamoDB, Docker
  • Experience with Event Driven Architectures (ideally using AWS EventBridge)
  • Previous experience working in cross-functional agile teams, demonstrating product thinking, customer empathy
  • You can showcase your role in facilitating the successful growth of fellow engineers by providing coaching and mentoring.

Additionally, the following would be nice-to-haves but not a must:

  • Experience with ES/CQRS architecture
  • Experience with utilising Confluent Kafka with Go

Flexibility is a must. We work in a fast-paced environment and we are growing very quickly.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and annual bonus
  • Employee share options
  • 2,000 per annual CPD package to be used at your discretion
  • Full kit for home office
  • Health insurance and life assurance (including dental)
  • Quarterly company trips
  • 24 days holiday annually
  • Extended parental leave
  • Contributing pension scheme

We are considering applicants for our London office or fully remote from anywhere GMT +/- 3. *If you're applying to work
