Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Medvivo for an experienced Health and Safety professional to join our service improvement team on a full time, permanent basis.

The Health and Safety Manager will play a leading role in developing, monitoring and implementing the organisation’s health and safety practices on a day-to-day basis. This role is critical in ensuring the health and safety of Medvivo’s colleagues, patients and at all working sites utilised by the organisation. Working as a subject matter expert, you will not only lead on the delivery of health and safety practices, you will promote the development of a positive and proactive health and safety culture across the organisation.

The Health and Safety Manager will lead the development of Medvivo’s health and safety function using in the main HSE Managing for Health and Safety HSG65 model as well as other applicable guidance, ensuring legal compliance with all relevant legislation and overseeing related company policies.

About you

You will have an in depth understanding of Health and Safety protocol, ideally within a healthcare context and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of demonstrating compliance against health and safety legislative and statutory requirements.

About the role

Day to day, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Developing and embedding a positive health and safety culture at all levels across the organisation, raising awareness of health and safety at all levels.
  • Operating as Medvivo’s health and safety subject matter expert, advising employees how to minimise or avoid risks and hazards. This will include regularly providing advice and guidance to employees and senior managers where appropriate.
  • Managing the co-ordination of risk assessments and, where necessary, completing the risk assessment process and associated documentation. This will require preparing audit returns undertaking regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Managing Medvivo’s relationships with new and existing Health and Safety contractors
  • Developing and facilitating health and safety training materials to enhance and improve employee awareness of health and safety standards. This includes but is not limited to, health and safety awareness courses, risk assessments and fire marshal training.
  • Investigating health and safety incidents and near misses, and work with relevant service representatives to implement actions from the learning. This also includes undertaking regular reviews to ensure best practice is being implemented in all areas, using auditing tools and other methods as required.

Medvivo operates a 24/7, 365 days a year service providing around the clock care to our service users. As such a degree of flexibility and adaptability will be required. There may be the occasional requirement to be available for work outside of your contracted hours/office hours to facilitate the smooth operational running of the business. An element of travel will also be involved in this post.
