Requirements

Sounds great right? What will you be doing?

Responsibilities

  • Providing accurate, relevant and timely advice on a variety of legal topics that relate to the business and our products and services
  • Assisting with the drafting, reviewing and negotiating various commercial contracts and agreements including employment contracts
  • Managing and mitigating legal risks by designing and implementing company policies and procedures
  • Ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to the business including AML, Bribery etc
  • Promoting legal, compliance and risk management best practice throughout the company.
  • Responsible for AML policies, procedures and staff training
  • Communicating with and assisting with the management of third-party bodies including external counsel, FCA and auditors
  • Supporting the design and delivery of legal training to the business
  • Staying up-to-date with changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect the business and our industry
  • Liaising with senior members of staff

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Legally qualified, in any recognised Common Law or European jurisdiction
  • Proven track record within the SME/venture backed Fintech start-up community
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders, matters and teams simultaneously in a demanding and complex environment
  • An entrepreneurial approach and mindset that is excited by the opportunity to grow and shape new practice areas and client propositions
  • The ability to develop and nurture relationships with internal business partners, our client network and those within your teams
  • You will have an inquisitive mind and a determination to succeed
  • This role will suit an ambitious individual, with a passion to learn and develop. There is the potential in the future for this role to progress to Chief Legal Officer / General Counsel.

Skills and experience

  • Sound understanding and knowledge of commercial and corporate law
  • PSD2 / payments / banking experience ideally including in the EU (Preferred but not essential)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent negotiating and drafting skills
  • An inquisitive mind in respect of new technology and the use of AI within the Legal sector
  • Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships across the business
  • Ability to communicate complex legal issues and risks in terms that non-legal colleagues can understand
  • Ability to work in a highly autonomous role
