A quick look at the role
The Senior Lease Accountant will provide senior project support to review 20m of opex costs and assess its compatibility to be treated as a finance lease under IFRS16. You will require a skilled level of analytical review and a pragmatic but consistent approach to the accounting restatement with the ability to process large volumes of data in a time restricted environment. You will also possess excellent business partnering skills and be able to influence and command attention in order to obtain the necessary data from multiple stakeholders.

Why it’s an opportunity not to be wasted
- Assist the Finance Manager to deliver the short-term leases project, ensuring all plant and vehicle leases within scope have been restated by year-end March 24, in order to deliver the expected 12M EBITDA upside.
- Analyse opex spend across vehicle and plant spend to determine and apply correct accounting treatment, in line with IFRS16.
- Prepare and Present an analytical review following initial findings to explain the impact on the group financial statements both Pamp;L amp; Balance Sheet ( EBITDA, EBIT Lease Liability amp; ROU Asset)
- Implement findings process lease addition schedules, correctly calculating the present value of future cash flows. Restate Pamp;L position ensuring lease payments are reconciled and transferred to the balance sheet. Prepare monthly cash reconciliation, ensure integrity of balance sheet with accurate backing schedules.
- Regular and clear communications with all stakeholders to ensure all data collection needs are meet accurately and in a timely way.
- Ensure all stakeholders are kept up to date on progress and understand current amp; future process to ensure ongoing adherence to policy. Provide technical training on IFRS16, to both Finance amp; Non-Finance personnel if required.
- Ensure consistency of approach amp; processes are followed and documented to withstand year-end audit scrutiny from Deloitte, prepare audit restatement schedules where required,
- Assess the future impact of the project on depreciation projections, lease liability balances and ROU asset, ensuring key stakeholders are kept abreast of changes
- Provide assistance on Biffa’s Transformation project and implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365. This could range from complex reconciliations, data migration and testing of the new system.

Our essential requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Sound practical knowledge of IFRS 16 implementation
- Proven analytical approach for reporting and presentation purposes
- Previous experience of delivering a project to tight timescales in a large scale organisation
- Strong system skills including advanced Excel and Power BI
