Job Description

Forward-deployed Data Scientist

London, Permanent , Senior/Lead level

Who we are

Our mission is to transform how healthcare organisations and their workforce work together. Our Connected Scheduling platform connects healthcare organisations and their workforce giving more autonomy and control to staff on how and when they work. Over 50% of UK GP practices use Lantum, we work with over 30% of UK hospitals too and we have not only saved millions in expensive staffing costs for the NHS, but we have countless stories of how we have improved the lives of clinicians who, for the first time, are able to plan their work lives around their personal lives.

What truly sets us apart is our culture and commitment to our mission. It is our incredible team that are the driving force behind our success and provide us with our competitive edge. We are a diverse group of people (20+ nationalities and 53% female workforce) who work hard to change an antiquated industry. We appreciate each others’ skills and differences, we are creative, focused and we are authentic to our true selves. Our team is supported to deliver their best work with clear career progression, a strong feedback culture and individual training budgets. We offer personal support too from health care subsidies including enhanced maternity and paternity leave and a Mental Health First Aider community.

We have a bright and modern office which you can work from throughout the week and 2 core office days per week (Tuesday amp; Wednesday) where the whole team comes together with free lunch provided. We are also open to discussing a Remote Working option for this role.

About the role

The focus of this foundational data scientist position in Lantum’s full-stack AI and data science group is end-to-end data science in its truest sense from the lab to the field and back. As a fully operational, hands-on Forward-deployed Data Scientist, you will form a mission-critical interface between (i) customers, end users, healthcare practitioners, domain experts, and partners; and (ii) multiple multidisciplinary teams (engineering, product, and operations) at Lantum, covering core, end-to-end AI development and data science in demanding, SLA’ed live production and service delivery contexts.

You will work directly on next-generation predictive models for complex and challenging staff and resource scheduling tasks which bring profound, directly measurable benefits for individual healthcare professionals and entire organisations alike. At the same time, you will directly contribute to and execute Lantum’s AI strategy for a wider product platform; and implement and optimise company-wide data science processes, pipelines, workflows, resources, artefacts, and infrastructure.

The role is particularly suitable for data scientists who love direct interaction with customers and end users, and analytical co-discovery and co-creation of solutions to multidimensional problems; who have a natural ability to optimise and de-risk data science work from an operational point of view; and who have a holistic growth mindset to be part of the journey of a rapidly-growing company and wider, evolving end-to-end data science excellence in it.

Responsibilities

This is a lead or senior role, depending on experience.

Working closely with other data scientists, data engineers, product teams, software engineering teams, and operations teams, the Forward-deployed Data Scientist will

  • implement and optimise production-ready, SLA’able models for multiple task domains such as complex staff and resource scheduling
  • interact directly with domain experts, healthcare practitioners, customers, and end users to design and deliver end-to-end data science work streams
  • support client onboarding teams in the field to capture client requirements, information architectures, data structures, data streams, key model requirements, acceptance criteria, and related data resources; and to measure, track, and optimise model and product performance
  • be a key contributor to day-to-day data science work at Lantum in a new team for end-to-end AI development and full-stack data science
  • contribute to Lantum’s foundational data infrastructure, data architectures, and production-grade data processes, workflows, and pipelines
  • bridge multidisciplinary teams covering both technical and non-technical audiences to enable rapid hypothesis testing and to promote effective data science practices (resources, people, and culture)
  • maintain fundamental scientific integrity across all AI and data science work through objective, measurable data-driven and evidence-based decision making and execution, and related policies and processes
  • provide scientific advice, both internally across the company and externally to clients.
