About Signal Ocean: Signal Ocean is the technology arm of the Signal Group. Our primary product, The Signal Ocean Platform, enables shipping professionals to securely handle, integrate, and assess intricate collections of private and public shipping data. Driven by advanced machine learning and artificial intelligence, our technology suite provides tailored, exclusive insights that support our clients in achieving performance and efficiency. Insights are delivered over web and mobile applications, as well as through a rich set of APIs and SDKs. Our backend architecture is abstracted to modularly offer deep analytics capabilities that are leveraged in the solutions that we offer or can be directly embedded in our client’s system topologies.
The team: The team focuses on retrieving, transforming, and delivering thousands of real time shipping data to various services and APIs on a daily basis through the utilization of machine learning models. In addition to meeting internal demands, the team also develops standalone APIs for external use.
The role: Signal Ocean Platform is expanding, and we're seeking a Senior Back End Engineer with expertise in distributed cloud-based applications to join our Athens-based team. Our Software Engineers collaborate closely with professionals in data science, design, product, and business analysis to develop robust solutions for the shipping industry. You'll work in a distributed micro-services environment on Microsoft Azure, dealing with complex shipping data, processing millions of operations per second to track and predict vessel movements in real-time.

Technology Stack: We build cloud solutions using C#, .NET Core, Python, MongoDB, MSSQL Server, Redis, Service Fabric, Kubernetes, Grafana, Influx and more. - More than 8 years of experience in a relevant role
- Strong Microsoft C#.NET development skills and knowledge of additional programming languages is welcome (e.g.: Java, Scala, R, Python, JavaScript)
- Knowledge and an active interest in Design Patterns and SOLID architecture principles
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (design, administration, tuning) and with ORM frameworks e.g. Entity Framework, Dapper, etc.
- Above basic skills and understanding of cloud-computing, preferably MS Azure
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements and delivery timelines; Agile development experience (including tools like Visual studio, Git, TeamCity, SCRUM/Agile tools) is welcome
- Masters or Bachelors university degree in Computer Science, related technical field or exceptional practical experience
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
