What's the job?We are now looking for an experienced and talented Staff Developer to join our Tech team and help Papier achieve our mission to inspire people to connect with each other more often and in more meaningful ways.
Reporting to our Head of Engineering, day to day you will be working with the entire Tech team on projects across all parts of the business. We are looking for a self-motivated individual, who is keen to coach and collaborate with members of the team at all levels, likes to learn new things, brings in ideas about how we could improve our technology and enjoys working in a fun, fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
What will you do?- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement new features and enhancements for the Papier platform.
- Write clean and maintainable code for both the backend and frontend components of our application.
- Be a leading voice in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure high code quality standards.
- Take ownership of technical projects and drive them to completion, both independently and through pairing with other team members. Scoping out projects and establishing requirements.
- As a product-minded team, our engineers have a big say in what we should be doing and what takes priority. You will work closely with product managers, designers and data analysts throughout the lifecycle of projects from exploring problem spaces, to generating ideas and developing them into impactful new features for our customers.
- Architecture decisions - we want you to be opinionated on how we build our applications
- Performance analysis - we set ambitious goals for site performance and regularly seek areas for improvement
Requirements
We don't expect you to meet all these requirements but some of the things we are looking for are:
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience writing web-based applications using Ruby on Rails, with at least 1 year spent in a Senior Developer position.
- Extensive professional experience using one or more popular frontend frameworks (Vue.js, React). We use Vue.js.
- An advocate for good development practices, taking pride in writing beautiful and well-tested code.
- A solid understanding of software architecture principles.
- A proactive and product-minded attitude, with a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently tackle complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team.
- Previous eCommerce experience is a plus.
- Other pluses: Elasticsearch, GraphQL, HTML5 Canvas, DevSecOps and Infrastructure Management.
