Basis: Permanent/Fixed-term contract; full-time, part-time or flexible

The role

With the rapid advances in AI technologies, it is vitally important that young people gain a foundational understanding of how AI technologies are built and how they are changing the world.

We are looking for an experienced educator to lead our work on AI Literacy, generating classroom resources, learning experiences, and teacher CPD that enables teachers to confidently deliver engaging lessons that will inspire and educate young people about AI and the role that it could play in their lives.

We've already made a great start through Experience AI, a collaboration with Google DeepMind that has generated lesson plans, classroom resources, worksheets, hands-on activities, and videos that introduce a wide range of AI applications and the underlying technologies that make them work. Since launching the first resources, we have seen significant demand from teachers and students all over the world, with over 200,000 students already learning with Experience AI. We are now building a global network of education partners who are translating and localising the materials for their contexts.

As Senior Learning Manager, you will lead the newly formed AI Literacy team to further develop Experience AI and other AI Literacy initiatives from the Foundation. You will manage a small team of Learning Managers and you will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Foundation and partner organisations.

You will have a background in computing education, with a track record of having created curricula, resources, learning experiences, or teacher professional development activities. You will have a good understanding of AI technologies and be committed to staying at the leading edge of this fast-evolving field.

We strive to make the Foundation a place where talented people who care about our mission can do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you’re the right person for the job, we’ll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you’ll be working with an exceptional team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of educators to develop world-class learning resources to help teachers and students understand AI technologies and how they are changing the world.
  • Ensure that learning experiences, content, resources, and training reflect evidence-based pedagogy and the Foundation's agreed approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Contribute to the development of the Foundation's teaching and learning strategy and approaches. Actively engage with research and best practice, and identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and in partner organisations.
  • Ensure that capacity and resources are planned and managed effectively to deliver the agreed priorities.
  • Take responsibility for proactively gathering user feedback and data, and use that to drive improvement. Ensure that user feedback and data are reported internally and externally as required.
  • Lead and support a team of Learning Managers to work flexibly across the Foundation's educational programmes and products.
  • Maintain excellent relations with external stakeholders and partners.
  • Represent the Raspberry Pi Foundation to external audiences and stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to the Foundation's thought leadership through writing articles and blogs, public speaking, and contributing to research and evaluation.

Experience and personal attributes

We recognise that everyone has the potential for growth and development. We expect post holders to have most, but not necessarily all of the following experience and personal attributes:

  • A thorough understanding of computing, with a degree or equivalent qualification in computer science or a related subject.
  • A good understanding of the field of Artificial Intelligence, including a foundational knowledge of the technologies, real-world applications, and social and ethical issues.
  • Experience in developing and delivering resources for teachers and students in a global context.
  • A teaching qualification or significant experience of teaching computing or a related subject.
  • Experience of developing and delivering high-quality learning experiences in a variety of different settings and contexts.
  • Comfortable with a broad range of technologies, including hardware and software platform
