Job Description

Frazer-Nash’s Programmes Business Unit in Frazer-Nash manages and delivers large frameworks and programmes that make a difference to the world. Our teams solve complex problems related to the design, analysis, manufacture, assurance and in-service support of nuclear plant across the Defence and growing nuclear innovation sectors.

By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects that ensure the continued safe operation of existing nuclear assets, work on introducing next generation assets, support the operation of nuclear facilities and bring exciting new nuclear technologies to fruition.

We have an immediate requirement for an experienced engineer in the design and manufacture of systems and components. You will work on a wide variety of projects in relation to existing and new nuclear propulsion plant, power generation plant and associated facilities. You will be involved in the full life-cycle of projects, providing advice and developing practical solutions to engineering problems for our nuclear client.

The role requires that you lead the delivery of nuclear projects within the mechanical engineering discipline related to the design and manufacture of nuclear plant and nuclear licenced facilities. As part of this, it will be necessary to liaise and work with client engineering, manufacturing and operations teams, customers/partners, and technical experts within Frazer-Nash, building strong working relationships.

You will use project management skills for the assigned projects including delivery of tasks to time, cost and quality expectations including managing the commercial aspects of the project. Another key aspect of the role will involve the production of bids and proposals to generate and deliver business with existing clients; therefore, good commercial acumen is a desirable skill.

Requirements

The successful applicant will meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Experience in the design and manufacture of high integrity components in the nuclear (or equivalent highly regulated) industry;
  • Knowledge of equipment lifecycle principles (eg CADMID process);
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process for product realisation including experience of process improvement tools, capability acquisition and new product introduction;
  • Degree or Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology or Engineering discipline;
  • Be a confident communicator, able to interact with clients, colleagues and stakeholders at all levels;
  • Proven project management skills to accept responsibility for delivery to time, cost and quality objectives.

It is to your advantage if you meet any the following additional requirements:

  • Chartered, or working towards chartership with a professional institution (eg IMechE);
  • Specific nuclear industry experience is advantageous;
  • An understanding of systems engineering principles;
  • Commercial skills including generating contract proposals;
  • Experience of working in a consultancy environment.
