ABOUT THE ROLE
At Generation we deliver an exciting social impact initiative - the London Digital Jobs and Skills Hub part of the Mayor of London’s Sectoral Academies programme.

The Hub aims to support diverse Londoners from disadvantaged backgrounds into good, entry-level tech jobs, backed up by significant employer demand.

And to do this the Hub works to build awareness of and guide jobseekers to choose between, access and thrive on life-changing programmes delivered by an incredible coalition of Hub partners - including the Prince’s Trust, Catch 22, QA Ltd and more.

The Hub, in its first year of activity, has already reached gt;2500 Londoners at events and another gt;3500 at jobs fairs with hundreds enrolling onto partner programmes and placed into work.

Having secured another year’s funding from the Greater London Authority, we are now looking for a Programme Manager to lead the Hub’s expansion and extension across 2024/2025, where we’re aiming to reach another gt;2000 in Hub-hosted events alone.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who relishes the challenge of running a set of high impact and profile events, coordinating across a high profile set of organisations, and delivering work with an undeniable social impact.

Next year the Hub, with a small team lead by the Programme Manager, will deliver four core strands of work:

  1. Events for young unemployed adults to explore opportunities in tech - A series of events - Hub-hosted and jobs fairs - for unemployed Londoners to boost awareness of available tech career paths, training opportunities across partners, hear success stories from previous learners, hear about real jobs in tech, improve their CV and LinkedIn, and be matchmade to interview for opportunities
  2. Managing our public face - Overseeing an active programme of promotion across social media platforms, a regular newsletter, and our always-on digital Hub where unemployed Londoners can explore careers in tech, learn about upcoming events, apply to upcoming training opportunities, and access additional employability and pastoral support.
  3. Employer Engagement - Outreach to and 1:1s with digital and tech employers to convince them of the benefits of hiring from alternative talent pipelines (I.e. partner programmes like bootcamps) and upskill them with related best practices around diverse hiring and retention.
  4. Career coaching - A Hub-delivered career coaching programme to provide 1:1 guidance to Londoners coming across the Hub who need more personalised guidance on the right next step for them to finding life-changing work in tech

Generation acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard, protect, and promote the welfare of staff and learners and is committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, and government guidance and complies with best practice. All our staff in the UK are required to undergo a DBS check
