Role purpose
The Senior Finance Accountant is a mid-level position within PIC’s Accounting and Financial Control team. As a Senior Finance Accountant, you will be responsible assisting the Senior Financial Accounting Manager (Investments) in all areas within the investment accounting space, including group consolidation.

Key responsibilities
- Responsible for preparation of the investment accounting process within the Finance department, including updating of the IFRS and Solvency II trial balances, IFRS investment related financial statement disclosures, Solvency II quantitative and qualitative reporting relating to investments.
- Responsible for preparation of PIC property holdings’ financial information and consolidation within PIC Group (transactions, journals, reconciliations, data entry, supporting information, explanations and all other information that may be required in the general ledger and financial records of the Group including Pamp;L, Balance Sheet, SOCIE and Consolidation)
- Other accounting tasks to support the effective month end closing accounting process.
- Line management responsibility for Finance Accountant
- Oversight of monthly investment valuation processes and procedures
- Ensuring that investment results produced by JP Morgan (JPM) are reconciled to accounting records maintained by PIC, at a general ledger and investment sub-ledger level
- Lead the production of detailed investments valuation reporting on a monthly basis
- Preparing analytical review commentary on significant variances and/or developments on a monthly basis
- Responsibility for investment account matters including liaison with External Custodians, ALM and Investment Operations internal teams and third party fund managers where required
- Ensure that all participants, including custodians, fund managers, administrators, and PIC teams supply appropriate levels of accounting information and to timescales consistent with internal and external reporting requirements
Ensure timely delivery of input to quarterly and ad-hoc investments-related regulatory returns to the PRA, ONS and ABI including the production of Solvency II investments-related reporting
Knowledge, experience, skills and abilities (technical competencies)
Skills/Knowledge
- 5 years’ experience in accounting, consolidation and accounting for investments (preferred) within Financial Services, ideally within insurance, or similar within a ‘big 4’ accounting environment
- Good knowledge of IFRS and its application (incl. Insurance company accounting)
- Good knowledge of PRA reporting requirements
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
- Understanding of a broad range of financial investment products
- Strong Excel skills
Experience:
- Experience of accounting for and valuation of financial instruments including derivatives
- Consolidation experience
- Experience for completing Solvency II quantitative templates for financial instruments including derivatives
