Senior Data Analytics Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Data Analytics Engineer to join our passionate and diverse Data Team.Treatwell is an organisation built on data, but we’re just getting started. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping our future by ensuring that our data models and analytical capabilities adapt to the rapid pace of our business.

As part of the Data Team, you will take ownership of the end-to-end delivery of our data products designed to empower analysts, product managers, and key business stakeholders with valuable insights. You will collaborate closely with various teams to understand their needs and translate them into actionable data assets.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in SQL to deliver the right data in the best format through self-serve tools. We value open-source platforms such as DBT, Docker, Gitlab, Grafana, Airflow, and Luigi orchestration in our tech stack. Our services run on a modern cloud platform using Amazon AWS, including Redshift, ECS, Lambda, Cloudwatch, S3, EMR, EC2, Athena, and Secrets. Additionally, we incorporate third-party tools like Snowplow, Fivetran, Looker, JIRA, and Slack, while continuously evaluating new technologies to enhance our data strategy.

You will be responsible for:

  • Collaborate with various business teams to understand their needs and create relevant data assets that reveal performance and key action points within their areas
  • Perform data modeling of core data assets using SQL, DBT, and LookML
  • Contribute to the strategy and design of data models and the data warehouse
  • Support the discovery and integration of new data from various sources (OLTP, APIs, S3)
  • Empower analysts and business users through self-serve tools, education, and documentation
  • Define and manage data quality, documentation, and governance of core and non-core data models
  • Manage data exposures in our BI Tool, Looker, ensuring smooth delivery of data to the business
  • Automate repetitive analyses and tasks whenever possible
  • Foster a data-driven culture and approach to decision-making
  • Collaborate with analysts, stakeholders, and data engineers on broader analytics projects
  • Assist with both ad-hoc requests and the automation of regular reporting for the business
  • Create reports and dashboards as required

About You

  • Strong experience with data modeling and data design concepts, including Dimensional Models (Kimball, Inmon, Data Marts) and OBT
  • Excellent SQL skills with a focus on writing performant queries. Experience in other programming languages, such as Python, is a plus
  • Articulate communicator comfortable discussing technical matters with both engineers and stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Experienced in working with and understanding various business functions such as product, marketing, supply, commercial, and finance teams
  • Creative problem solver with an understanding of when a minimally viable solution can deliver 80% of the required needs ahead of a fully perfect solution
  • Proficient with version control principles, git, and the command-line interface
  • Familiarity with ETL (ELT) Tools such as DBT (preferred), GCP, SSIS, Databricks, Airflow
  • Analytical mindset with exposure to data warehouses from a previous role
  • You are experienced with BI Visualisation tools
  • Prior experience using DBT and LookML is a plus
  • EU/UK residency is a must
