Location: Milton Keynes

Contract: Permanent

Hours/Shift Pattern: Continental shift pattern - 3 on / off (average of 40.25 hours per week)

What we’re looking for...

AG Barr is looking for a Quality Officer to join the team at our site in Milton Keynes. Reporting to the Quality Team Leader, you will be responsible for the maintenance and effectiveness of the site Quality systems ensuring continuing certification to the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety. In addition, the Quality Officer will carry out internal audits, ensure compliance of the HACCP system, assist product complaint investigations and support external audits. You will also provide technical support to Production Team Leaders on product quality.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Take responsibility for their own health amp; safety and that of colleagues. Drive continuous improvements and prevent accidents by engaging in safety conversations and by proactively reporting hazard observations.
  • Factory based role responsible for advising, supporting and training of site teams in all quality, hygiene, food safety and microbiological standards required
  • Supporting and ensuring compliance with the site HACCP plan
  • Supporting the wider QSE department goals.
  • Ensuring Product Conformance through appropriate evaluations and testing.
  • Ensuring compliance of company, customer, consumer and legislative requirements through auditing and inspections
  • Working in close collaboration with site teams to ensure effective close out of out of spec / nonconforming situations
  • Complaint investigation and support to the senior team in wider analysis.
  • Produce and report trend data for site quality performance.
  • Equipment Calibration for production and laboratory.
  • Playing an active role in root cause analysis investigations; troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Supporting the Company by supporting continuing certification to BRC (GFSI).
  • To carry out quality internal audits to the requirements of BRC (GFSI)


The successful candidate will

  • Ideally educated in Food Science, Microbiology or Chemistry with a minimum of 3 years experience in a high paced quality environment.
  • Experience working within an FMCG environment, ideally food and drink based.
  • Knowledge and understanding of HACCP, BRC and food quality systems.
  • Understanding of the relevant statutory regulations (i.e. Food Hygiene, Food Safety).
  • Strong IT skills required.
  • Experienced in internal auditing.
  • Knowledge of HPLC and other product testing technologies desirable.
