Depot General Manager

A quick look at the role

The Depot General Manager will be responsible for managing operational depots in Yorkshire. You will ensure health and safety and environmental compliance, and deliver first class customer service in line with pre-defined business KPI’s. You will also support continuous improvement in productivity, and quality of service provision, through continuous review and improved site profitability, to support business growth and best in class performance.

  • Monitor, manage and co-ordinate all depot based resources to ensure an increase in operational productivity and improved quality of service provided.
  • Ensure service delivery meets defined key performance indicators whilst driving best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and productivity.
  • Defines and supports the development of the drivers and staff as a whole by identifying and sharing best practice
  • Manages and ensure compliance of Health amp; Safety, Environmental, Employment legislation and Company policy to ensure defined standards and best practice are adhered to.
  • Agrees, monitors and manages the full depot Pamp;L budget, delegating accountability where appropriate, supporting financial year on year growth of the depot
  • Work within cross-divisional teams to provide integrated waste solutions using best practice and through continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • CPC
  • COTC
  • Waste industry knowledge including relevant laws would be an advantage
  • Experience of people and health amp; safety management in a unionised environment
  • Effective working to clearly defined service delivery KPI’s
  • Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within an operational / service environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical service
  • Profit and loss experience
  • Experience as Operations Manager or position of similar responsibility in the services or logistics industry
  • Good transport / logistics knowledge
