Job Description
DC Thomson is a leading UK multi-media company, based in Dundee and Aberdeen. We’re best known for our local newspapers, The Courier and The Press and Journal and our magazines, including the Beano but we’re also the owners of leading genealogy company, FindMyPast.
We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic law student to join our legal team for a summer placement. As a champion of our local communities, we are delighted to invite applications from students at the University of Dundee, University of Aberdeen, Abertay University and Robert Gordon University.
Requirements
About the placement:
You will have the opportunity to get involved in a variety of tasks across many of our businesses. You can expect to gain experience in intellectual property and data protection matters, commercial contracts and corporate work. Tasks may include conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and supporting the legal team in various administrative tasks and projects.
About you:
You should be a law or diploma student at one of the institutions listed above, have completed your 3rd or 4th year of the LLB or DPLP, have excellent organisational, communication and analytical skills, and be able to work well independently or as part of a team that works in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of commercial law is desirable. A can-do attitude and the confidence to mix with all levels of the organisation is essential.

Benefits
This is a full-time placement, working 35 hours per week from our Meadowside Office for four weeks between August amp; September. Please note, we are also happy to discuss flexible working patterns for those who might find a full-time placement challenging. We pay the real living wage and offer an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on legal experience in a dynamic media company. You'll be working alongside experienced legal professionals in a small, friendly team.
