About you

As Engineering Manager you will be supporting our innovation teams in delivering industry changing software faster and maintaining high compliance, resilience, and risk standards to formulate and lead the execution of a test strategy. You will cover all ClearBank product families and systems and be a manager with a hands on-element, providing leadership and line management to SDETs across all Innovation teams. The role of the SDET team at Clearbank is to play a consultant role for the teams to write excellent quality tests and consider non-functional requirements around new product development, and to own and maintain/improve the test tooling used across the department.

You'll have the knowledge and people skills to coach and mentor technical teams and leadership on defining and ensuring software quality and planning skills to coordinate quality efforts across engineering, platform and supporting teams. You'll also have a broad technical understanding of modern cloud-based software development practices and tools and work well with senior individual contributors and leadership in technology. Whilst we don't expect you to have experience in our .Net or C# stack, you'll demonstrate the ability to operate in it and pick up new technology.

Requirements

  • Leadership skills and ability to manage stakeholders at different levels within and outside of technology teams
  • Ownership mindset and strong feedback skills
  • Ability to formulate, develop and present strategic and tactical plans for quality assurance
  • Be an advocate for a strategy’s rollout across the Innovation teams
  • Experience mentoring product engineering and platform teams on software quality
  • Effective communication skills in a remote environment
  • Comfortable with uncertainty and a rapid rate of change
  • Proven track record of using of agile, DevOps practices and tooling in software delivery
  • Experience within a cloud provider (We use Azure, but AWS or GCP also fine)
  • Experience working in a technology organisation
  • Team leadership and people management experience

Desired skills and experience

  • Extensive and varied experience testing large distributed systems, with non-functional regulatory, contract and SLA testing being preferrable
  • Experience working in a FinTech or another regulated environment preferrable but not required
  • Hands-on skills in one or more programming languages and test automation frameworks
  • .NET development and or C# skills
