As Product and Delivery Lead, you will lead the engineering team, whilst also ensuring the team are focusing on the right items for this sprint and assess the velocity. You will know what we are looking to achieve with the product and take part in validating what is being built by the team. The Product and Delivery Lead oversees the team in regard of line management and task management on a day to day basis. They also work closely with stakeholders to understand future backlog items and planning in future releases
This is a fast-paced team, with a new product to complete and launch. It is a very exciting time in Target with lots of modernisation, new technologies and new clients.

Other day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Lead, motivate and manage the team. Even though this role does not have line management responsibility leadership skills will form an important part of the role in leading a team to success.
- Manage the allocation of work in accordance with business priorities, ensuring team members are utilised efficiently and set tasks land on time
- Oversee the Agile estimation and sprint planning/retrospectives.
- Track progress/velocity against required plan even though we will be taking an agile approach for this product we will still be looking to achieve delivery of functionality by given milestones and within cost tolerances.
- Be accountable for the service and quality of delivery to clients from within the scope of the delivery teams
- Act as an escalation point for issues.
- Highlight resource/skills deficits or any other potential conflicts impacting project deliverables to the HOD and relevant PM(s) to agree a solution.
- Anticipate, log and mange delivery risks, take early action to mitigate.
- Understand any Audit requirements and adhere to required Audit points within the Agile Framework
- Work with other managers delivery leads to ensure that processes and procedures are standard and consistent across the board and instil Continual Improvement of these.
- Ensure the effective management of the workload across the workstream team, and that performance of the team is measured and reported in line with KPIs.
- Communicate effectively across the Delivery teams to avoid any silo’s and promote a one team approach.
Requirements
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate experience leading an Agile Product team, ideally within a Financial Services environment, with the following technical experience:
- Demonstrable experience of overseeing a product and knowing what it does and does not currently do
- Release formulation and Roadmap management
- At least 5 years commercial experience of Java Software Development
- Working with Mortgage, or other financial related products is ideal
The successful candidate will also be:
- Self-organised,
- Able to contribute to tech decisions, tech design and architecture, and prioritising roadmap for technical debt
- Vocal, asks the right questions, provides mentorship
- A strong communicator with good stakeholder management skills
- Able to lead a distributed / remote team, whilst keeping up engagement levels
