Job Description

Use your skills to make a difference

Are you a digital-first marketing manager looking to make a real difference? Then this role is for you. It’s a rare and exciting opportunity to use your skills to transform the working lives of countless people across the globe.

This is your chance to lead a growing team, as we expand our B2B and B2C offerings to reach more learners worldwide. You'll use your strategic, technical and analytical skills to enable more people to discover the true power of better writing in the workplace.

By taking our message to a bigger audience, you’ll help them share their knowledge more effectively, so they and the organisations they work in can reach their true potential.

What you’ll do
  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies and plans to achieve company goals and objectives. This is a hands-on role, and includes working closely with the founder, CEO, and content and sales teams.
  • Take the lead on our website, including CRO, UX, accessibility and SEO.
  • Build and develop your small, expert team, so they make the most of their talents and do their best work.
  • Foster strong relationships with contractors, to extend the capability of your team and deliver on projects.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs and competitors, and use insights to inform marketing decisions.
  • Develop and oversee both inbound and outbound marketing campaigns across various channels, including digital, strategic partnerships, PPC, social media and email.
  • Manage the marketing budget to maximise ROI.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to align marketing efforts with sales goals and create lead generation strategies.
  • Monitor and analyse performance metrics, track the success of marketing initiatives, and adjust strategies to keep us on target with our ambitious plans for growth.
  • Work with the content manager to identify and cultivate strategic partnerships that increase brand visibility.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging marketing technologies, to keep the company at the forefront of marketing innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy and marketing regulations, such as GDPR and the CAN-SPAM Act, in all digital marketing efforts.
A day in the life

Once onboarded, you’ll meet with the leadership team to discuss your proposals for a fresh approach to our marketing. Your day-to-day work will be you making the agreed strategy a reality. Here’s what we expect a typical day might look like:

You kick off the day with a meeting to plan out the latest lead magnet and nurture sequence with your content manager. You then review some new landing pages, so your digital marketer can bring them live.

There are changes in email deliverability protocols coming up in the next few months, so you review these to make sure all the necessary changes are made in good time to avoid any of our content not reaching its audience.

The afternoon starts with a meeting with our founder, who is featuring in a series of videos for the company YouTube channel. You’ll make sure that these are promoted across our social channels, and you’ll review performance.

The day might finish with a review of site performance to prepare for A/B testing new page layout ideas to drive conversions.

Our purpose

The entire working world now relies on communication through the written word. We’re far more likely to email or message each other than we are to talk.

Every day, we send and receive more than 319 billion emails. Instant messaging, live chat and posting on social media occupy much of our working days. And that’s on top of the millions of reports and other documents that most organisations rely on to get things done.

But all this activity is hidden in plain sight, so it doesn’t get the attention it should especially as it goes wrong all the time. Like the instant message that accidentally infuriates a colleague or the waffly email that’s deleted on sight. Think of that impenetrable letter from your insurance company, the report that fails to convey critical information and the proposal that doesn’t win the business.

At Emphasis, we help organisations tackle all these challenges and more. We are the UK’s number-one provider of business-writing training and one of the world’s leading communications specialists.

Our clients include Premier League, Alzheimer's Research UK, Barclays, JP Morgan, 10 Downing Street, Deloitte, the United Nations and many of the world’s biggest law firms. To date, we’ve helped more than 80,000 people develop first-class business-writing skills, working with over 1,000 client organisations worldwide
