About the role:

We’re looking for a highly motivated and driven individual to join the Legal function within Bondaval. You will be positioned at the heart of what we do as a business, having a first row contributing seat to driving our commercial growth and working with key strategic partners. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, take ownership of projects from start to finish, and roll their sleeves up with our commercial team.

The role will be based in London, with a global footprint, supporting our business activities across the UK, Europe and North America. You will be the second in-house Legal hire, reporting to Tim Grimshaw (LinkedIn), Head of Legal and Compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Support commercial deal flow by drafting and negotiating our product contracts with our clients and brokers
  • Help draft our contracts for new products and advise on the legal requirements to launch these products in new countries
  • Update our existing product contracts to reflect evolving business needs and legal requirements
  • Review and negotiate third party supplier contracts, from NDAs to office leases
  • Negotiate and draft amendments to contracts with brokers and insurers, some of our key strategic partners
  • Build a broad understanding of the legal and regulatory landscape affecting us and our products, and advise internal stakeholders accordingly
  • Advise internal stakeholders on our policies and procedures, and update them from time to time
  • Work closely with external stakeholders
  • Support the wider Operations and Finance team with ensuring compliance and adequate risk management

Requirements

You might be a good fit if
  • You’re a qualified as a solicitor or barrister. As a rough guide, we think this role would suit someone who is newly qualified to 1-year post-qualification experience
  • You’re good at communicating across different formats, and you enjoy building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • You get a buzz out of learning about new areas of law, and about new ways of doing things (experience in insurance / the financial services sector is beneficial, but not essential)
  • You know your way around a contract, and can draft precisely and clearly
  • You’re methodical and have a keen eye for detail
  • You’re great at balancing competing priorities, and remain organised and calm
  • You’re looking at joining a fast-growing start-up to accelerate your career development
  • You’re able to work independently, escalating questions or issues as required
