Purpose of the role
As part of the Legal and Regulatory Affairs team you will work alongside subject matter experts in legal, data protection, information security, compliance and risk and in doing so you will play an integral role in supporting the business to go further faster.
You will work closely with the Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs across various products, partnerships, and other initiatives, helping to drive the business’ growth whilst protecting the company’s interests. The role will have a particular focus on insurance and regulatory issues, being one of the core work streams within the business.
What you’ll be doing
You will help to manage all day to day Insurance and Regulatory issues within the UK business. This will include:
- Working alongside our underwriters to develop and iterate our policy wordings and to draft policy endorsements
- Reviewing and drafting binding authority agreements for insurers
- Assisting our compliance colleagues with complaints, larger compliance issues and providing regulatory advice
- Supporting the Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs on larger projects/deals/regulatory issues
- Reviewing and advising on SaaS agreements and other third party supplier agreements
- Supporting our DPO and data protection team in relation to data protection queries
What you will need to be successful
- You will have a minimum of 0-2 PQE years experience of working as a lawyer either in-house in Fintech, Insurtech, or Insurance, or at a reputable UK law firm.
- You will have particular expertise in the area of Insurance regulation, and some experience of Corporate and Commercial law is preferable but not mandatory.
- You will have all the required qualifications to practice law in England and Wales.
- You will have the ability to manage a significant number of legal queries and requests.
- You’ll have great analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems.
- You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner, with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior leadership.
- You will have excellent cross functional collaboration skills.
- You will have a high degree of organisation and an ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
- You understand the business of law and not just the law of business.
