Hourly Rate: 11.79 per hour

Contract: 15 hours per week. 12-month fixed term contract with a view to extend

At Twinkl Scotland, we pride ourselves on creating quality content for all ages and stages of Scottish education. From ELC, through Primary and now into Secondary, we aim to provide content that engages learners and supports Scottish educators in getting it right for every child. We are always looking for opportunities to further support our users and respond to current educational initiatives and, as such, we are now delighted to be focusing on developing resources to support Digital Literacy throughout the primary curriculum. You will be joining the team at an exciting time as we look to continue to develop a wide range of high-quality resources that can be used by educators across Scotland.

As a Content Writer for Scotland you will be involved in planning, organising and creating resources and other content for the site. A large part of this role will be creating Twinkl resources, blogs and more for our Scottish customers. You will need to have a strong, current working knowledge of the Curriculum for Excellence as well as experience of working within a primary setting in Scotland. We are particularly looking for a candidate who enhances their learning and teaching through the use of digital technologies and has digital tools integrated into their daily learning routine. We are also keen to find someone who is passionate about supporting other teachers to build their skills and confidence in delivering lessons on understanding and analysing digital technologies. You will use your knowledge to develop resources and your content will be turned into a finished product for Twinkl by our highly skilled design team.

This role does not require you to work from the Twinkl office and meetings can be conducted via GoogleMeet/Hangouts when required. This is a remote, flexible position. Working hours can be agreed between you and your line manager to fit around your current commitments but you should have availability for team meetings during office hours.

Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

  • Ideate, develop and create innovative digital literacy resources that support adult understanding and provide inspiration for playful learning experiences for learners throughout Early, First and Second Level.
  • Work and communicate with other team members in an agile working team to achieve sprint goals.

Requirements

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Produce original content that is accurate, engaging and research-driven, according to a monthly target
  • Work as part of a team to identify content opportunities to further grow the product

In this role, you will learn:

  • How to create diverse, inclusive, engaging and varied resources for learners and teachers from the ideation stage to publication
  • How to work as part of an agile team that is developing new resources to bring to market

We're interested in anyone with a combination of the following:

  • Extensive knowledge of Scottish Curriculum, particularly candidates with experience in developing content for digital literacy
  • At least three years of experience in a Primary setting
  • A particular interest and confidence in using digital technologies with learners and a passion for helping other teachers building their knowledge and confidence in this area
  • The ability to create resources that demonstrate a high standard of spelling, punctuation, grammar, curriculum relevance and factual accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Creativity and initiative
  • The ability to operate fluently between a range of different IT platforms
