About the role

As a Junior Category Manager, you'll have the opportunity to influence key performance indicators (KPIs), shape ongoing range development, craft trading plans, and lead your team towards success. With our dual responsibility for buying and merchandising this role presents an excellent opportunity to expand your skillset and thrive in a dynamic environment.

  • Take full financial accountability for the departmental category or range, overseeing daily metrics such as Sales, Margin, Stock, Cash, Returns, and Supplier Terms
  • Develop and curate a compelling range that resonates with our customers, aligns with market trends, and leverages internal insights to meet objectives.
  • Craft and manage category promotional strategies and pricing propositions to maximise profitability and drive sales growth.
  • Utilise data and insights to identify opportunities for Pamp;L efficiencies and cost reduction, including assortment optimisation and operational improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, onboard new partners, and negotiate commercial terms to uphold commitments and drive standards.

Please note this is a 12 month fixed term contract and the closing date for applications will be Sunday 3rd March 2024

About you
  • Proven experience in retail, with a focus on category management, buying, or merchandising.
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for market trends and customer preferences.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with a knack for building and nurturing relationships.
  • A results-driven mindset with a passion for driving business success and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience and/or management of a team
