About the role
Reporting to the Group Reporting Manager, the Group Accountant responsibilities will include the Group’s financial reporting including monthly reporting to the Immediate Media Board and quarterly reporting to the Group’s owners in Germany. The Group Accountant will assist with consolidating results from the subsidiary businesses of the Group. The Group Accountant will also take on additional responsibilities for the Group’s year end processes and prepare the Group’s annual statutory accounts.
The role will sit within the Group Finance team whose responsibilities also include broader balance sheet control, treasury and tax and well as handling employee expenses and ad hoc project work. The Group Finance team sits alongside the management accounts teams in London.
The right candidate for this role will be self-motivated and organised. They will take ownership of the broad range of tasks within their remit and quickly develop an in-depth understanding of the business of Immediate Media.
As a Group Accountant, you will;
- Assist with monthly consolidation of the Immediate Media Group profit and loss and balance sheet.
- Preparation of quarterly reporting for the Group’s owners.
- Assist with the consolidation of the annual budget and mid-year re-forecast of the Group’s results.
- Preparation, along with the Group Financial Controller and Group Reporting Manager, of both consolidated and individual entity statutory accounts and appropriate supporting schedules.
- Preparation of technical accounting memos for changes in accounting policies and standards
- Assist with the swift resolution of audit queries across a wide range of the Group’s profit and loss and balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare and maintain the corporation tax workbooks for the quarterly instalment payments, statutory financial statements reporting and balance sheet reconciliations
- Ad hoc analysis, project and other work for the Group Financial Controller and the Tax Manager as required.
Requirements
- ACA/ACCA in progress
- Experience gained in a medium sized commercial organisation would be useful
- Strong financial accounting background with good technical accounting experience
- A proven track record in financial control and strong attention to detail
- Ability to plan and manage own workload in order to meet tight deadlines
- A genuine interest in the Publishing amp; Digital Media sector
- Strong Excel and IT skills essential
- Proactive and self-motivated with excellent communication skills
- Confident and flexible team player
- A genuine drive and commitment to produce the highest quality work and to deliver technical expertise at all times
