We have a fantastic opportunity to support our Finance team on a fixed term basis for 9 months as a Finance Manager in our head office in London. You’ll be reporting to the Group Finance Controller, managing the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Cash Management functions, leading and motivating a team of 2 people.

This role will have complete autonomy to run the transactional functions which involves continuous interaction with key internal and external stakeholders in the business. There are several ongoing projects in the transactional finance team that this role will support.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to utilise your expertise in financial analysis and strategic planning. By analysing day-to-day financial activities with precision, you will also have the visibility to provide valuable insights and recommendations to senior management including at exec level.

This is a hybrid role, working three days in the office in Chancery Lane - Central London.

Key Responsibilities:

Management Financial Reporting:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations with unwavering accuracy, overseeing the purchase ledger, sales ledger and cash book.
  • Ownership of the financial month end close process and delivering timely financial information to internal stakeholders, aiding in strategic decision-making.
  • Perform monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations accurately and completely, for example, fixed asset register, prepayment and accruals schedules, VAT records and returns, stock counts and reconciliations, sales reconciliations.
  • Credit control: Proactively manage credit to optimise cash flow and utilisation.
  • Foster strong internal relationships and develop the internal accounting cycle, ensuring comprehensive understanding and adherence across the business.
  • Support Group Financial Controller working on one-off and ad-hoc financial reporting requirements.

Financial analysis and strategic planning

  • Support Group FC with month-end closing activities such as forecasting, financial analysis, invoicing and debt collection.

Statutory accounts and audit

  • Prepare audit information as and when required.
  • Support the Group FC and Management Team to implement recommendations (as agreed) that are suggested in the audit report or management letter.

Financial processes and procedures

  • Help improve the efficiency of our company through process optimisation, digitalisation, intelligent data analysis / visualisation and use of process automation.
  • Ensure accounting policies comply with the relevant accounting standards and legislative requirements, through the development and maintenance of thorough financial procedures.

Payments and cash management

  • Ensure efficient management of supplier payments and credit control/payment reconciliation.
  • Assist in the administration of the bank accounts, currency requirements and payments.
  • Deal with escalations from suppliers and internal customers. Take ownership of resolution providing support to the team and appropriate escalation where necessary

Team management and development

  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to Finance team members, ensuring effective communication channels are supported that promotes two-way appraisal and feedback on processes and performance between finance members and company departments.
  • Work with finance team members to agree individual and team objectives in line with finance team and company goals, ensuring that each team member has a clear understanding of business targets and of their role within the team.
  • Monitor performance and regularly appraise and provide feedback to team members either in group or individual discussions as it is necessary to strategically ensure the achievement of company and individual objectives.

Requirements

  • A part/recently qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent)
  • Excellent people management skills with previous experience leading and motivating teams
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build and influence relationships across the business
