Contract: Permanent

Hours: 20 hours per week

Recruiter: Hope Parkin

Closing date for applications: 18/03/2024

You’ll be joining a passionate team working to create Twinkl’s online early years CPD resources for educators across the UK and globally. The majority of your time will be spent working with other content writers and editors, engaging with product priorities to facilitate the highest possible quality of teacher content for our customers.

Your weekly activities could include:

  • creating new resources (including written guidance, audio or video formats) to support early years educators with their professional development;
  • providing a specialist insight into continuous professional development (CPD) in the early years;
  • reading in-depth research or the latest articles and advice in developing early years understanding (for example in areas of child development);
  • responding to editorial feedback and working alongside colleagues to elevate a resource to an excellent standard;
  • sharing early years knowledge with the team about how to write a variety of resources which engage and appeal to educators. This could include suggesting new CPD-style resources to ensure effective learning and development.
  • producing resources which respond to customer needs and current approaches to early years education;
  • meeting with other members of the team to discuss and develop new ideas;
  • attending team meetings, ideation sessions and review sessions.

Our ideal candidate will be passionate about giving back to the education community and keen to share their early years expertise with others in their team. This position is remote and the hours can be worked flexibly with the expectation that you will have good daytime availability for training, meetings, collaboration and ongoing CPD, particularly in your training period/first month. This role would be perfect for someone who has part time teaching/supply/tutoring commitments.

Remote working and hours:

  • To be considered for this role, you would need to be available around our core hours (10am-2pm) Mon-Fri, on a minimum of two days per week.
  • Essential for remote working - You will need access to a fast and reliable internet connection of at least 6mb down and 1mb upload. We recommend you use speedtest.net to check.
  • You will be responsible for supplying and maintaining your own IT equipment if working remotely.

Requirements

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • have completed primary qualified teacher status: PGCE, B.Ed, EYTS or equivalent;
  • have two years of full classroom/early years setting teaching experience (after QTS is complete) in England;
  • have a comprehensive understanding of the knowledge and development needed to be an effective early years educator;
  • have an insight and experience in CPD delivery;
  • be able to read in-depth research and translate the information clearly and concisely for educators;
  • be open to working in different ways, creating different types of resources and be able to adapt and pivot when things aren’t working;
  • be open to featuring on podcasts and working on video content;
  • be passionate about early years continuous professional development;
  • be a fantastic communicator who thrives when working in a close-knit team;
  • be prepared to confidently work between different IT platforms, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and G Suite;
  • understand the early years community in England, knowing their unique pressures and current educational trends as well as be aware of how they link to the global early years environment;
  • have a drive for your own continuous professional development.

In this role, you will learn:

  • how to ideate and create diverse, inclusive, engaging and varied resources for early years educators;
  • how to work in ‘agile’ teams, allowing you to solve problems and change tasks quickly to meet deadlines;
  • how to collaborate with educational professionals based across the UK through our company focus groups and customer feedback requests;
  • how to apply your teaching experience to create new products, from ideation stage to publication;
  • how to use project tracking software as well as other in-house systems.

You’ll work with:

  • Julia Dourish (Early Years Product Owner)
  • your own direct Line Manager.
  • our team of qualified educators who currently write, edit and produce content for Early Ye
