Job Description

We are looking for a Technical Product Owner to join The National College team, to support the development on our cloud-based SaaS professional development products.

As Technical Product Owner, you will be responsible the product backlog, bridging between the product, support and development teams to ensure both the short term and longer-term asks are fully defined and managed into development. The ideal candidate is well organised with a strong background in development process, a passion for education, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience as a product owner, scrum master, or product manager
  • Collaborative and able to work across teams effectively
  • Strong technical understanding with the ability to work closely with development teams
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and tools such as Jira
  • Excellent written communicator with a want to provide structured and relevant details in development asks
  • Structured and organised approach to ensure sprints are managed to completion, prioritised effectively, and reported on to key stakeholders
  • Previous experience learning management systems or education leadership a benefit
  • Understanding of e-commerce and SaaS subscription services also beneficial
  • Flexible and able to work in a highly collaborative fast-paced culture

Responsibilities

  1. Backlog Management: Prioritisation and organisation of development asks, factoring in needs of product management, development and support teams
  2. Agile Process Support: supporting development teams with agile ceremonies
  3. Definition of Specifications: Creating and extending development tickets within the backlog to ensure all details are captured and ensuring both development and test teams can worth through to completion
  4. Represent the user: Understand all system use cases and feed them into development work
  5. Delivery: work closely with the Product Manager to ensure the roadmap is executed
  6. Creation of Documentation: Support with the creation of documentation for product updates and changes
  7. Reporting: Provide reporting to key stakeholders on progress of the backlog
