Job Description

Our client, a large government customer, are seeking an Enterprise Architect / Integration Lead to join their team. The role is based in Portsmouth and is partly remote based, with some site visits. The role requires SC clearance (DV desirable) and candidates must be sole UK nationals.

Requirements are scheduled to run until 31/03/2025 (220 days) and offer a rate up to 900/day.

IR35 STATUS:Inside IR35. Our client has indicated that they intend to operate the engagement as Inside IR35. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement. The rates above represent rate payable to the umbrella co.

The Role

  • The department is seeking to acquire engineering support for the ongoing programme. The Programme aims to deliver Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance architecture and capability. The team is looking for a person who can combine the role of an Enterprise Architect and an Integration Lead support to the projects within this programme.
  • The Enterprise Architect and Integration Lead’s responsibilities are to provide leadership, direction and expertise in capturing the segment’s architecture and supporting the integration, test and verification within this programme.
  • Also, development of a strategy for the above, taking into account the need for structure, and alignment between multiple missions; working with existing/forming teams and forming a network of stakeholders to illicit needs and requirements.

Brief Team Description

The department is assembled into two teams, with a delivery and integration support team. The Enterprise Architect and Integration Lead will be part of the delivery and integration support team working across the other teams.

Main Responsibilities Enterprise Architect Work

  • Provide expert advice and guidance, setting the direction and strategy for definition of the Enterprise Architecture and associated missions.
  • Regular meetings and workshops, on a project-by-project basis, and occasionally at a programme level.
  • Diagrams and documents that capture the strategy.
  • Collaboration with mission teams in order to define the enterprise architecture and solution architectures for associated missions.
  • Liaison with stakeholders to elicit requirements and business needs.
  • Manage documentation of requirements and business needs from stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to the development of mechanisms and strategies to implement secure-by-design security principle.
  • Workshops, tools to assist in implementation of SbD (NIST control tools).
  • Development and contribution to artefacts capturing the enterprise architecture, e.g. business model, business processes, organisations, operating model and concepts of operation.
  • Artefacts from relevant part of the developed methodology to meet the projects and wider programmatic requirements.
  • Training requirements specification, mentoring.
  • Development of personnel to increase fluency of EA and MBSE throughout the programme.

Main Responsibilities Integration Lead Work

  • Enable a coherent and strategic system of systems approach to the integration, testing and verification of the individual team segments.
  • Enable appropriate standards to be identified, defined, maintained and imposed where necessary.
  • Provide engineering support to cover integration, test and verification policies, standard and guidance to technical partners to enable each project to review/produce their own integration, test and verification plans and ensure these are coherent with each other and the overall programme.
  • Help create the integration, test and verification plans for the projects for the ground segment projects.
  • Work in accordance with the applicable policies and standards; including but not limited to safety, security, and risk management.
  • Provide input and support to creation of System Design Authority. Where the department are looking to manage the configuration management as a whole; which includes: host sites (cloud and physical locations); sustainment of software/firmware patches, recovery ‘golden’ images and upgrades, and maintain the operational availability / limitations as systems age; and baseline configuration settings.
  • The System Design Authority will need to ensure successful delivery into an operational baseline; where adding anything new (or changing configuration) will not put at risk current operations.
  • Enable delivered systems, equipment and software to be tested for compliance and effective integration prior to commissioning of these new systems.
