Design Support - Content Editor and Writer

Location: Twinkl HQ / Remote
Annual Salary: 23,000

Contract: 12 Months Fixed Term (with the possibility of leading to a permanent contract)
Hours: Full time (37.5 per week)

The role of Design Support Content Writer and Editor has been created to ensure our content is not only accurate, but also constantly updated and improved to meet the needs of our customers.

Working as part of our Design Support team, you will be expected to react dynamically to trends in education and respond to the specific needs of our customers to ensure our resources are as relevant and useful as possible. This will involve proof-reading new and updated resources before they are made available to our customers, as well as writing new content and generating innovative ideas. The role will also involve some administerial duties to co-ordinate our Design Support process.

As the team is reactive in its output, the position involves very tight deadlines and requires a decisive candidate who can work efficiently.

Ultimately, this role is perfect for someone who loves writing and creating educational material for a wide-range of subjects and can confidently prioritise a workload in a high-paced environment. You will need a keen eye for detail and the knowledge and experience necessary to identify effective learning across all of the primary age range.

Ongoing projects/how you’ll spend your day:

  • Working with customer feedback to improve our existing catalogue of educational materials
    • Writing your own content
    • Peer-checking the work of your writer and editor colleagues.
  • Working with our graphic design team to bring your resource vision to life

The Design Support team is a friendly community of experienced teachers, writers, editors and graphic designers that have been working together to provide excellent resource-based customer-support since 2015.

Clear communication and efficient workflow are the cornerstones of our success and the role is perfect for a candidate that enjoys working collaboratively on projects, as well as having space to develop their own resource content ideas.

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • possess strong IT skills and experience using the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • confidently fact-check and proof-read to ensure content is accurate.
  • have experience of managing a personal workload effectively to a tight deadline.
  • have experience writing amp; delivering lessons across a range of subjects and topics.
  • have QTS and at least 2 years of UK classroom experience

In this role, you will learn:

  • how to effectively write resources productive content writing for different purposes, audiences and resource types
  • how to constructively edit content at both the pre-design and pre-upload stage
  • how to work with Graphic Designer and Illustrator staff to publish finished resources.

Requirements

We're interested in anyone who meets a combination of the following:

  • access to a fast and reliable internet connection of at least 6mb down and 1mb upload. We recommend you use speedtest.net to check.
  • has had some experience with the UK DfE KS2 curriculum.
  • has had some experience of leading a curriculum area.
  • familiarity with G Suite.
  • is good fun to be with and has the ability to communicate well with others
  • is organised and able to multi-task and keep up with changing priorities.
  • is able to communicate with colleagues and our external partners effectively, both in writing and verbally
  • has a hard work ethic, is passionate, driven and loves what they do
  • is honest, trustworthy and reliable
  • produces quality work and is ready to learn new skills
  • at least 2 years’ experience teaching in UK Primary Schools .
  • at least a C grade in English and Maths at GCSE
